NEW LONDON, Conn.—Senior Lauren Zatulove (Los Angeles, Calif.) qualified for the NCAA regional championship meet in the heptathlon and Babson College wrapped up the two-day Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College by finishing 15th among scoring teams on Saturday.
Six different competitors recorded new personal bests highlighted by Zatulove in the heptathlon where she recorded a career-best 3284 points, which ranks fourth in program history. She finished second with a career-best leap of 14-feet, 11.25-inches in the long jump, was third with a career-best throw of 86-feet, 7-inches in the javelin and also placed third with a time of 2:48.67 in the 800 meters.
Sophomore Angela Hagstrom (Portsmouth, N.H.) was the runner-up with a time of 1:06.82 in the 400-meter hurdles. First-year Robyn Wilkes (Atlanta, Ga.) crossed the finish line in 12.82 seconds to take eighth place in the 100 meters, senior Rachel Ip (Wellesley, Mass.) came in ninth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.97 and senior Caroline Reilly (East Greenwich, R.I.) posted a time of 1:02.23 that was good for ninth position in the 400 meters. She also ran a career-best time of 27.39 in the 200 meters.
Additionally, Reilly, first-year Brooke Jankowski (Methuen, Mass.), Wilkes and Hagstrom took sixth place with a time of 50.17 in the 4x100-meter relay.
First-year Julia Pike () placed 10th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.19, while classmate Trista Sicard (Mansfield, Mass.) finished 12th in both the 100-meter hurdles (17.34) and the triple jump (33-feet, 11.25-inches). Classmate Ashna Krishnamurthy (Saratoga, Calif.) also came in 12th by clearing 16-feet, 0.50-inches in the long jump.
Sophomore Jacquelyn Elward (Ipswich, Mass.) recorded a career-best result of 91-feet, 3-inches in the hammer and first-years Alexandra Kirkpatrick (Middleborough, Mass.) and Avery Butt (Orange, Conn.) both recorded season-best times in the 5000 meters. Kirkpatrick ran 19:40.87, while Butt finished in 21:03.30. Sophomore Arielle Cushinsky (Marblehead, Mass.) also recorded a leap of 28-feet, 3.50-inches in the triple jump.
Babson returns to action next Saturday in Cambridge at the MIT Sean Collier Invitational.
