Women's Track & Field Off To Strong Start at Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn.—The Babson College women's track & field team recorded five personal-bests and a pair of season-best times on the opening day of the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College on Friday.

Senior Lauren Zatulove (Los Angeles, Calif.) got off to a strong start in her first heptathlon since 2021 with top-four finishes in all four events on Friday. She came in second in the shot put with a career-best throw of 32-feet, 3-inches and was the runner-up in the high jump clearing 4-feet, 6.75-inches, and also placed fourth with career-best times in both the 100 hurdles (18.79) and 200 meters (29.37).

After four events, Zatulove sits in fourth place with 1957 points.

Sophomore Jaquelyn Elward (Ipswich, Mass.) competed in the discus on Friday evening and recorded a career-best throw of 86-feet, 2-inches. Senior Nicole Johns (Peabody, Mass.) came in 16th in the 10,000-meter run with a career-best time of 42:24.81, while first-year Alexandra Kirkpatrick (Middleborough, Mass.) posted a season-best-time of 19:40.11 in the 5000 meters.

Fellow first-year Chloe Clifford (Marshfield, Mass.) ran the 800 meters in a time of 2:25.70, which was good for 14th place.

The second day of competition at the Silfen Invitational begins on Saturday at 8 a.m.
