WHAT TO KNOW
• The Babson men's and women's track & field teams will head to New London, Conn., for the second weekend in a row this time to compete in the two-day Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College beginning on Friday afternoon.
2022 SILFEN INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
• Junior Anthony Rodriguez broke his own school record with a time of 31:04.87 in the men's 10,000 meters and Nina Sitarski '22 set a new school mark with a throw of 105-feet, 6-inches in the women's hammer to highlight last year's appearance at the Silfen Invitational.
• Junior Eric Bottern won the shot put with a toss of 48-feet, 4.5-inches, senior Jed Kaufman was second with a time of 15.27 in the 110-meter hurdles and Colin Cianciolo '22 placed second in the 200 meters and third in the 400 meters for the Babson men.
• Senior Nicole Johns posted a career-best time of 20:22.36 in the women's 5000 meters and teamed with sophomores Alyssa Keith and Eujin Shin and Stephanie Mishler '22 to finish second in the 4x800-meter relay.
SCOUTING THE BABSON MEN
• The Beavers continued their strong start to the spring by setting a pair of school records at the Coast Guard Invitational last Saturday.
• Bottern bettered his previous school marks in both shot put (53-feet, 6.5-inches) and hammer (137-feet, 3.5-inches), while sophomore Jack Reynolds was the runner-up in the high jump with a leap of 6-feet, 0.75-inches.
• Senior Yudai Yamakawa placed third with a time of 15:55.93 in the 5000 meters, junior Michael Agard finished fourth with a time of 11.19 in the 100 meters and first-year Max Gregoire came in eighth in the 400 meters (53.05) and 10th in the 1500 meters with season-best time of 4:11.14.
SCOUTING THE BABSON WOMEN
• The Beavers recorded seven top-three results and tied for fourth place among 14 schools at the Coast Guard Invitational last Saturday.
• First-year Robyn Wilkes posted a season-best time of 12.72 to take third in the 100 meters and also placed seventh in the 200 with a time of 26.98, while sophomore Angela Hagstrom came in second with a time of 1:08.00 in the 400-meter hurdles.
• Senior Caroline Reilly placed third in the 400 meters with a career-best time of 1:02.12, first-year Brooke Jankowski came in third in the 100-meter hurdles (15.65) and high jump (5-feet, 1.75-inches), and classmate Trista Sicard finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 34-feet, 8.5-inches.
BOTTERN NAMED NEWMAC FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
• Thanks to his record-setting performances in the shot put and hammer along with a throw of 125-feet, 9-inches in the discus, Bottern was tabbed as the conference's field athlete of the week for the second time this season on Monday.
• His top throw of 53-feet, 6.5-inches in the shot put ranks first in the East region and ninth in Division III.
NCAA NEW ENGLAND QUALIFIERS
• A total of 13 Babson athletes have punched their tickets to the NCAA New England Championships, which will be held at Springfield College on May 5-6.
• Men: Agard (long jump), Bottern (shot put), Gregoire (800m), Ivarra (10,000m), Kaufman (110 hurdles), sophomore Harrison Prucher (110 hurdles), Rodriguez (5000m), graduate student Ryan Wilson (1500m) and Yamakawa (3000m steeplechase)
• Women: Hagstrom (400 hurdles), Jankowski (100 hurdles), first-year Ashna Krishnamurthy (triple jump), Wilkes (100m)
SETTING THE STANDARD
• In addition to Bottern's national mark in the shot put, Rodriguez's time of 14:40.20 in the 5000 meters ranks third in the East region and 39th in Division III.
• The Babson women also own a pair of top-five marks in the relays as the 4x100-meter quartet of Hagstrom, Wilkes, Krishnamurthy and Reilly rank fourth with a time of 49.65, while the 4x400-meter squad of Reilly, Jankowski, first-year Chloe Clifford and Hagstrom is currently fifth with a time of 4:05.08.
