SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 23-3 all-time against Clark in a series that dates back to 1994, although the teams are 3-3 since 2017.
• The Beavers have won the past two encounters by five and seven goals after Clark had captured three of the previous four, including a pair of one-goal games in 2019.
• Since 2014, five of the nine games between the two schools have been decided by a single goal, two of which ended in overtime.
LAST MEETING
• Senior Chi Chi Price scored four goals and Babson used a five-goal third-quarter surge to pull away from Clark on the way to a 14-7 victory on March 26, 2022 at Granger Field. The Beavers also got two goals and an assist from Lee Sipes '22G and two goals each from juniors Ford Carney and Connor Karsh.
• Tyler Hughey, senior Dan Neill and juniors Grey Sunderland and Topher Bower all scored one goal and Sunderland won 14 of 20 face-offs and picked up a team-high eight ground balls. Mac Mowat '22 earned the win in goal, making four saves in 45 minutes while senior Will Parducci made five saves on eight shots in relief off the bench.
• Graduate student Benjamin Hollerbach led the hosts with two goals and an assist, while classmate Steve Caione scored twice and fellow grad student Tommy McCarthy and sophomore Matt Wells tallied a goal and an assist each. Senior John D'Eufemia also scored for the Cougars, and junior Byron Palmieri scooped up a team-high five ground balls.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (4-1, 1-0 NEWMAC) is riding a three-game winning streak after last Saturday's 16-8 conference victory over Coast Guard in New London, Conn.
• Graduate student Will Spangenberg led all players with seven points (4g, 3a) in the win and Babson held Coast Guard scoreless for nearly 36 minutes to start the game. Graduate student Ryan Kenney tallied four goals, Price scored three times and first-year Bennett Smith chipped in with a pair of tallies to pace the Beavers. Junior Dillon Quinn finished with five ground balls and four caused turnovers, while classmate Sammy Kalishman scooped up four ground balls and Parducci made eight of his 12 saves in the first half.
• Spangenberg (15-14-29) is ranked 22nd in Division III in assists per game and 17th in points per game and Price (18-1-19) and Kenney (17-2-19) are 42nd and 53rd in goals per game while Bower (2-8-10) is second on the team in assists.
• Quinn has registered a team-high eight caused turnovers, Sunderland has a team-high 26 ground balls, and Parducci (4-1, 10.43 GAA, 56.4 sv. pct) leads the NEWMAC in goals against average.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
• Clark (0-5, 0-1 NEWMAC) is coming off a 22-9 setback to defending champion MIT in its first conference game last Saturday in Worcester.
• Hollerbach, Wells and junior Colin Howard each scored three goals in the loss, with Hollerbach adding three assists and Wells one. Graduate student Mark Zito scooped up a team-high eight ground balls while winning 10 of 28 faceoffs, and fellow grad student Ryan Mickelson made 14 saves in goal in the loss.
• Hollerbach (9-7-16) leads the team in scoring while Wells (6-3-9) has scored three man-up goals to top the team. Zito has won 42 of 98 faceoffs and collected a team-high 24 ground balls while junior Keegan McMahan and first-year Jake Nudelman have five caused turnovers apiece. Mickelson (0-3, 15.37 GAA, 44.7 sv. pct) and senior Dylan Harloff (0-2, 25.93 GAA, 40.4 sv. pct) have split time in the Cougar goal.
• Clark finished 3-11 a year ago including 1-5 in the NEWMAC.
ALL CLEAR
• Babson enters Saturday's contest ranked third in Division III with a .921 clearing percentage through its first five games, which includes being successful on all 25 clearing chances in last Saturday's win over Coast Guard and 43-of-46 chances (.935) in wins over Trinity and Western New England.
• The Beavers' first five opponents have been successful on just .761 percent of their clearing chances and only Union (17-of-21) has converted more than 80 percent of its opportunities.
BUSY BEAVERS
• Parducci has made at least 13 saves in each of his last four games with at least a 55.0 save percentage in all four, including at least 61.9 percent in his last two.
• Spangenberg has four straight multi-goal games and has collected at least seven points in three of his last four.
• Price has scored at least three goals in four of his five games this spring, with three five-point outings, and Kenney has three consecutive games with at least four goals, including six goals against Trinity.
BEAVER BITES
• After sitting out the first three games, Stucchi has at least two points in the last two games to extend his points streak to 19 games dating back to last season.
• Price has scored at least one goal in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.
• Spangenberg has scored a goal in nine straight and recorded at least one point in 13 in a row, both dating back to last season when he played at Holy Cross.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 4-0 this season, 12-4 since last year and 16-4 over the last four seasons when scoring at least 10 goals.
• Babson is 26-3 when allowing eight goals or fewer going back to the start of 2018.
• The Beavers are 18-1 over the last four seasons when leading at halftime.
