SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 0-13 all-time against Union in a series that dates back to 2009.
• The Beavers have been held to eight goals or fewer in five of the six losses at MacDowell Field but scored a dozen in a 15-12 loss in 2016.
LAST MEETING
• Hayden Fry '22 and Kieran McGovern '22 scored two goals each as No. 13/12 Union defeated Babson, 8-4, on February 27, 2022 at Frank Bailey Field in Schenectady, N.Y.
• Junior Jacob Tauss scored two goals to lead the Beavers, while senior Matt Stucchi and junior Topher Bower notched one goal each and senior Chi Chi Price added one assist. Drew Thomas '22 led the team with four ground balls and two caused turnovers, and Mac Mowat '22 was solid in goal with 12 saves in the setback.
• Junior Jake Mabardy also scored two goals for the Dutchmen, and Fry topped the team with five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Senior Peter Burnes and junior Justin Greene added one goal apiece, and Sam Byrne '22 and junior Matthew Paolatto combined to win 8-of-13 face-offs. Junior Dan Donohue made 11 saves on 15 shots to earn the win in the Dutchmen goal.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (1-0) opened the season last Saturday with a 12-10 victory over Roger Williams at MacDowell Field.
• Price matched his career high with five goals and graduate student Will Spangenberg tallied one goal and led all players with four assists in the win. Graduate student Ryan Kenney scored twice, Tauss had a goal and two assists and Bower finished with three helpers for the Beavers.
• Junior Grey Sunderland won 17-of-26 face-offs and led all players with eight ground balls, while Spangenberg and Brendan Maher each had two caused turnovers. Senior Will Parducci finished with six saves in his first career start.
• Babson returns 37 players from a team that finished 8-9 overall after advancing to the NEWMAC semifinals last season.
SCOUTING THE DUTCHMEN
• Union (0-0) is ranked fifth in this week's USILA Division III poll and sixth in the Inside Lacrosse Division III rankings.
• The Dutchmen are making their season debut after posting an 18-3 record last spring and finishing runner-up to RIT in the NCAA Championships after capturing four tournament wins, falling in the title game, 12-10.
• Senior short-stick midfielder Jake Titus was a unanimous Preseason All-America first team selection, and senior attacker Peter Burnes also was named to the Preseason All-America first-team. They were joined by a trio of juniors: goalie Dan Donahue (third team), faceoff specialist Matthew Paolatto (fourth team), and midfielder Peter Kip (honorable mention).
• After Sunday's game, Union will play five straight games against teams currently in the national preseason top-20.
PRICE, KENNEY EARN PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA RECOGNITION
• Price was named to the USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-America honorable mention list and Kenney was an Inside Lacrosse All-America honorable mention back in January.
POLL POSITION
• Babson was picked to finish runner-up when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its annual preseason coaches' poll last week.
• Defending champion MIT received five of the seven first-place votes and was picked to repeat as conference champions, while Babson earned the other two top votes and finished second in the poll. Springfield, which lost to MIT in last year's title game, was voted third while Coast Guard, last year's regular season runner-up, was fourth.
BEAVER BITES
• Five different players recorded multiple points in the victory over Roger Williams, and 15 players picked up at least one ground ball.
• Senior Kyle Sanborn scooped up five ground balls while Price and Spangenberg collected four apiece.
• A former NEWMAC Rookie of the Year and an All-Conference second team pick a year ago, Sunderland won 57.1 percent of his face-offs in his first two seasons.

• The Beavers are 16-4 over the last four seasons when scoring at least 10 goals.
• Babson is 25-3 when allowing eight goals or fewer going back to the start of 2018.
• The Beavers are 15-1 over the last three seasons when leading at halftime.
