• No. 2 Babson (20-1) captured its third consecutive NEWMAC Tournament championship and fifth overall with a 3-1 victory over No. 20 MIT on Saturday at MacDowell Field.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
NCAA Tournament Appearance: 1st
• No. 7 Bates (13-5) made the most of its first NCAA Tournament appearance on Wednesday with a 7-0 opening round victory over Johnson & Wales in Lewiston, Maine.
• Senior Paige Cote and junior Anna Cote tallied two goals apiece and junior Anna Lindeis added a goal and two assists in the victory. Seniors Molly Griffin and Ella Blum also scored, and sophomore Kaili Jacobsen made two saves in 50 minutes in goal for the win.
• Paige Cote (10-9-29) leads the team in assists and points while Anna Cote (12-3-27) tops the squad in goals. Junior Maria Fenia (8-2-18) and Lindeis (8-2-18) and senior Kami Lambert (7-0-14) are offensive threats as well.
• Jacobsen has started 17 of 18 games for the Bobcats and boasts a 1.49 goals against average and a .702 save percentage with two shutouts.
SCOUTING THE JUMBOS
NCAA Tournament Appearance: 14th
Best NCAA Finish: Champion (2012)
• No. 10 Tufts (12-5) rolled to a 5-0 victory over Southern Maine in Wednesday's NCAA Tournament first-round game in Medford, Mass.
• Senior Andrea DelGiudice and junior Kylie Rosenquest both scored twice and senior Rachel Scrivanich chipped in with one goal to help the Jumbos match its season-high output for goals. The stingy Jumbo defense prevented any shots on goal by the Southern Maine offense.
• DelGiudice (10-2-22) leads the team in scoring and was named first team All-NESCAC this fall while senior Lainie Pearson (3-2-8) was a second team pick. Sophomore Hannah Biccard (7-6-20) tops the team in assists and junior Claire Gavin (7-2-16) and Kylie Rosenquest (6-3-15) are strong offensive contributors.
• Sophomore Lydia Eastburn has started all 17 games for the Jumbos and posted a 1.29 goals against average with a .735 save percentage and four shutouts.
SCOUTING THE PROFS
NCAA Tournament Appearance: 23rd
Best NCAA Finish: Champions (2002)
• No. 16 Rowan (12-7), coming off a third consecutive NJAC title, opened NCAA Tournament play on Wednesday with a 5-0 victory over Hartwick in Glassboro, N.J.
• Sophomore Sidney Pavlishin scored two goals and junior Vanessa DiDonato chipped in with a goal and two assists in the win. Junior Julia Cavicchio and senior Cienna Bosher also added goals for the Profs and first-year Mariah Juiliano made one save to post her fourth straight shutout.
• DiDonato (18-5-41) ranks 20th in Division III in goals per game while Cavicchio (8-7-23) leads the team in assists and Pavlishin (9-4-22) is second on the squad in goals, giving the Profs three 20-point scorers.
•Juiliano (1.16 GAA, .800 sv. pct.) has started the last seven games for the Profs after senior Aida Ingram (2.22 GAA, .730 sv. pct.) was between the pipes in 10 of the first 12 game this season.
EARLIER THIS SEASON
vs. Bates
• DiGiovanni scored a pair of goals to help then-No. 3 Babson remain undefeated with a 3-2 victory over then-No. 15 Bates back on September 13 at rainy MacDowell Field.
• Walsh tallied a goal and an assist in the win and Marsh added a helper while Furmanek turned away five shots in goal to post the victory.
• Lambert and Lindeis tallied goals for the Bobcats, and Anna Cote and senior Molly Harmon collected assists. Jacobsen made five saves in the Bobcat goal in the setback.
vs. Tufts
• DiGiovanni scored the only goal No. 2 Babson would need and Furmanek made four saves to preserve the shutout in a 2-0 victory over then-No. 5 Tufts back on September 26 at MacDowell Field.
• Hanyon tacked on a third-quarter insurance goal on a penalty stroke for the Beavers. All four of Furmanek's saves came in the fourth quarter.
• Eastman stopped five shots in the Tufts goal. Sophomore Gabby Sousa prevented another Babson goal with a defensive save for the Jumbos.
NCAA POSTSEASON HISTORY
• Babson has made five of its seven NCAA Tournament appearances since 2016, and advanced to the quarterfinals three times (2016, 2021 and 2022).
• The Beavers knocked off Rochester in last year's second round, 3-1, before a 1-0 loss to Johns Hopkins in the quarterfinals.
• The Green and White made their only national semifinal appearance in 2016 with victories over St. John Fisher (3-0) and Franklin & Marshall (1-0) before a 5-2 loss to Messiah in the semifinals.
• The last four and 10 of the Beavers' 14 NCAA Tournament contests have taken place in Babson Park.
TOURNAMENT TESTED
• McGrath has tallied two goals and one assist in six NCAA Tournament games in her career dating back to 2019, while DiGiovanni scored two goals in two NCAA tourney games last year and junior
Berit Sharrow has a goal and an assist in four outings over the past two years.
• Hanyon has made four NCAA Tournament appearances going back to 2019, while Evans, Marsh, and Powers also have four appearances since 2021, Marguerite has played in three games, sophomore
Sanne van der Goes in two, and sophomore
Laney Reed in one.
• Furmanek is 1-1 in NCAA Tournament play with four saves and two goals allowed.
FIVE BEAVERS EARN ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
• McGrath and Sharrow were selected as the NEWMAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year and
Julie Ryan and her two assistants were honored as the Coaching Staff of the Year when the NEWMAC announced its postseason awards on Thursday.
• McGrath and Sharrow were joined on the All-NEWMAC First Team by Walsh and Marsh while Furmanek earned a Second Team honor.
FRIENDLY CONFINES
• The Green and White are 12-0 this season on home turf and have won 36 of their last 40 games at MacDowell Field.
• The Beavers are 77-16 at home since the start of the 2015 season.
BUSY BEAVERS
• Walsh has registered points in eight of her last nine games, accumulating 12 goals and two assists for 26 points in that stretch.
• McGrath has points in eight of her last 10 outings, tallying nine goals and five assists for 23 points since the beginning of October.
• Marsh has collected points in six of her last 10 games, totaling eight goals and two assists for 18 points in that span.
STIFLING DEFENSE
• The Babson defense, anchored by Sharrow, Hanyon, graduate student
Daniela Parrado-Nazal, van der Goes, and Powers, has allowed just 14 goals in 21 games this season.
• The Beavers have surrendered just six goals in their current 14-game winning streak.
• Since the start of the 2018 campaign, the Green and White are 84-2 when holding the opponents to no more than one goal.
ASSAULT ON THE RECORD BOOKS
• Babson has outscored its opponents 110-14 this season to set the program single season mark for goals, breaking the mark of 100 set in 2021.
• McGrath continues her climb on the program's all-time scoring list and now ranks tied for fifth with 127 points, eighth with 50 goals and tied for ninth with 27 assists.
• Furmanek moved up to fourth on the career wins list with 39 and tied for second with 19 shutouts. She is also second on the single season chart with 20 wins and 11 shutouts, one shy of the mark set by Deirdre Barry '20 in 2016.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Babson has won 53 games in a row when leading at halftime, dating back to 2021.
• The Beavers have lost just once in their last 56 outings when scoring the first goal of the game.
