Men’s Ice Hockey Hosts Tufts in Non-Conference Game on Tuesday

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 18-2-0 all-time against Tufts in a series that dates back to the 1991-92 campaign.
• The Beavers have won six consecutive games against the Jumbos, and have taken three in a row and nine of the last 10 meetings in Babson Park dating back to the 1996-97 season.
• The two Jumbo victories came back-to-back in 2009 and 2010 after the Green and White had won the first dozen meeting in the series.

LAST MEETING
• Senior Thomas Kramer tallied a goal and an assist in a three-goal second period as No. 7 Babson registered a 3-2 victory over Tufts on November 22, 2022, inside the Malden Valley Forum.
• Junior Wyatt George and sophomore Ryan Murphy scored for Babson and James Perullo '23 collected two assists. Andrew Holland '23 and sophomores Ian Driscoll and Mike Stevens also picked up assists for the Beavers and Nolan Hildebrand '23 made 26 saves in goal to record the win.
• Senior Sam Miller and junior Tyler Sedlak scored third-period goals in a comeback attempt for the Jumbos, and juniors Sami Hakkarainen and Clark Bolin notched assists. Senior Peyton Durand finished with 31 saves in the loss.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (4-3-1, 4-0-1 NEHC) has won its last four games to move over the .500 mark, including a 5-4 overtime victory at Johnson & Wales on Friday and a 6-1 rout over UMass Boston on Saturday.
• Kramer tallied two goals in Friday night's win and added his second career hat trick to lead the way in Saturday's triumph. Murphy contributed a goal and two assists, first-year Jimmy Fallon added a goal and an assist and sophomore Egan Schmitt scored once in the victory over JWU. Sophomore Cam Joslin finished with a goal and an assist, and Schmitt and junior Matt Cormier tallied one goal each in Saturday's verdict. Sophomore Nate Mueller made 65 saves on 70 shots on the weekend.
• Murphy (4-6-10) has a six-game point streak and Kramer (5-2-7) leads the team in goals. Schmitt (4-2-6), George (2-4-6), senior Colby Bailey (1-5-6) and sophomore Charlie Andriole (0-6-6) are tied for third on the team in points, with Andriole tied for the team lead in assists.
• Mueller (3.01 GAA, .908 Sv. Pct.) has started the last four games and is second in the league with 178 saves.

SCOUTING THE JUMBOS
• Tufts (0-2-0, 0-2-0 NESCAC) opened its season last weekend on home ice with a pair of NESCAC setbacks to Trinity (5-1) and Wesleyan (5-4 OT) in Malden, Mass.
• Junior Harrison Bazianos tallied the lone Jumbo goal on a second-period power play in the loss to Trinity. Hakkarainen, junior Marek Pechr, sophomore John Mulvihill and senior Fisher Shea lit the lamp in the loss to Wesleyan, which scored three unanswered goals to pull out the win. Durand made 41 saves against Trinity and sophomore Gustave Bylin made 25 saves against Wesleyan.
• Miller (7-12-19) and sophomore Max Resnick (7-11-18) led the team in scoring last year for the Jumbos, who also return Bazianos (9-6-15), Sedlak (6-9-15), junior Brennan Horn (3-12-15) and sophomore Cole Dubicki (3-11-14).
• Durand (7-6-0, 2.44 GAA, .932 sv. pct) and Bylin (3-8-1, 3.01 GAA, .88 sv. pct) split time in the Jumbos' goal last season, combining for five shutouts.

SKATING ON HOME ICE
• The Beavers are 2-0-1 this season at the Babson Skating Center, where they will play their next five games.
• The Green and White finished 9-3-1 at home in 2022-23 and have a 26-5-4 mark since the start of the Covid-shortened 2020-21 campaign.
• Babson is 52-15-6 on home ice since 2017-18 and 96-18-11 at home since February of 2013.

KRAMER EARNS NEHC HONOR
• Kramer picked up his second career NEHC Player of the Week honor on Monday, and his first since December of 2021.
• Babson's first-line center produced a pair of multi-goal games and scored five times in all with two goals in Friday's 5-4 overtime victory over Johnson & Wales and a hat trick in Saturday's 6-1 rout of UMass Boston.

BABSON VS. THE NESCAC
• Tuesday's game is the first of three straight outings against schools from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).
• The Beavers will also host Williams and Amherst this coming weekend.
• The Green and White were 5-0-0 against the NESCAC in 2021-22 and 2-2 last season, and have gone 9-2-1 against the conference since the 2019-20 campaign.

A PEEK AT THE OFFENSE
• The Beavers' 29 goals this season have come from 14 different players, including three first-years scoring their first career goal.
• The seniors have combined for six goals, while the juniors have accounted for five goals, 14 from the sophomores and four from the first-years.
• After scoring just five goals in the first three games, the Green and White have erupted for 24 goals in the last five outings.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Green and White are 3-1 when leading after the first period and are 13-2-1 over the past two seasons when taking a lead into the second period.
• The Beavers are 3-1 this season when scoring the first goal of the game after finishing 15-2-1 last season when drawing first blood.
• Babson is 4-1-1 this year when scoring at least three goals and is 39-6-3 over the past three seasons with at least three goals.

UP NEXT
• The Beavers will be at home this weekend for a pair of home games against Williams on Saturday and Amherst on Sunday, both contests at 3 p.m. at the Babson Skating Center.
