With the outcome, Babson drops to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the NEWMAC, while Springfield broke a two-game skid and improves to 4-6 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Sophomore Topher Bower (Chicago, Ill.) led the Beavers with a career-high seven points on four goals and three assists while junior Chi Chi Price (Hingham, Mass.) added a career-best six points on four goals and two assists. Senior Drew Thomas (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) recorded a career-high five caused turnovers and sophomore Grey Sunderland (Bellevue, Wash.) won 17 of 32 face-offs and picked up a career-high 11 ground balls.

Springfield used a four-goal surge in the first quarter to move out to a 5-1 lead, but Babson answered with a four-goal burst of its own, including man-up goals by Price and Bower, to tie the score at 5-apiece with two minutes to go in the first quarter.

The Pride allowed just two Beaver goals in the next 34 minutes of play, an unassisted goal by Bower in the second and a junior Matt Stucchi (Rexford, N.Y.) goal from Bower in the third, while scoring 10 times to take a 15-7 advantage after three quarters. Seven different players scored for Springfield in that span, while Maimone fired in three goals and Turi added a pair.

Babson did not give up and scored the first three goals of the fourth quarter, two from Price and one from Bower, to slice the deficit and pull to within 15-10. The teams alternated goals in the final four minutes before Sunderland scored the final goal with a minute to play but time ran out on the Beaver comeback.

The Beavers ended up with a 48-40 advantage in shots and a 34-32 margin in ground balls. Babson was good on 18-of-19 clears while holding Springfield to 20-of-26. First-year goalie Dean Pesce (Monroe, N.Y.) made eight saves to record his first career victory (1-2) for Springfield, while senior Mac Mowat (Bellevue, Wash.) and junior Will Parducci (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) combined for eight for the Beavers.
