SERIES HISTORY
• Babson and Framingham State will meet for the 60th time on Wednesday in a series that dates back to 1971. The Beavers are 31-28 all-time against the Rams although the programs have met just twice since 2012.
• The last victory for the Rams in the series came back on May 1, 2003, by a score of 9-8 in Babson Park.
LAST MEETING
• Peter Feinman recorded a career-high nine strikeouts over six innings and 19th-ranked Babson scored eight runs with two outs in a 9-2 victory over visiting Framingham State on March 27, 2019 at Govoni Field.
• Matthew Valente '20 went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, Jake Oliger '20 had two hits and scored twice, and Alex Reynolds '21 hit a two-run homer for the Beavers. Eric Jaun '19 also had two RBI in the win.
• Bobby Higgins '21 went 2-for-4 at the plate and classmate RC Goodman drove in a run for the Rams.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (6-4) is coming off a 10-0 non-conference victory over Plymouth State Monday afternoon in the home opener at Govoni Field.
• Senior Sean Burychka went 4-for-5 with three RBI, sophomore Brant Savage had three hits and two RBI and junior Tim Noone picked up his first career win with six shutout innings.
• Burychka doubled and tripled as part of his four-hit day, junior Michael Cook went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and seniors Thomas Lapham and Josh Yellen both finished with two hits apiece to pace the Beavers' 14-hit attack. Noone (1-1) struck out seven and gave up just one hit, while senior William Cournan and juniors Anthony St. John and Stephen McLendon combined for three shutout innings out of the bullpen.
• Burychka (.400) and senior Andrew Dembowski (.400) share the team lead in batting average, and Burychka has a team-high 14 hits and four extra-base hits. Yellen (13) and Lapham (12) have also reached double figures in hits in the team's 10 games. McLendon has a win and three saves in seven appearances out of the bullpen.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
• Framingham State (3-7) is coming off a doubleheader sweep (8-2, 14-7) of Westminster (Pa.) last Friday on the final day on its spring trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Rams tallied seven runs including a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth to complete the sweep.
• First-year Jacob Buontempo finished the first game 3-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBI, while classmate Lucas Basile, junior Chris Iannetta and senior Kevin Girardin recorded two hits apiece.
• Sophomore Cam Gilroy finished the second game with a pair of hits, including the grand slam, and five RBI, while first-year Joey Fasolino went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI. Sophomore Ryan Boyle added a pair of hits and an RBI, while Buontempo went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI.
• Boyle (.406) leads the team in hitting, extra-base hits (6) and RBI (8). Junior Robert Johnson (.361) and first-years Basile (.360) and Buontempo (.353) are off to hot starts this spring. Sophomore Sean Letarte has two of the team's three wins on the mound.
BEAVER ATTACK
• Yellen has reached base in all 10 games this spring and 12 straight contests dating back to last season. He also has at least two hits in nine of his last 17 games going back to last spring.
• Lapham and Yellen lead the Beavers with four multi-hit games apiece, while Burychka and Dembowski each have three multi-hit outings this spring.
HOME SWEET HOME
• Wednesday marks game two of a stretch that sees the Beavers play six of nine games at Govoni Field.
• Babson is 45-6 at home going back to April 22, 2016, which includes going 5-3 in contests against WPI and Wheaton during last year's abbreviated schedule after winning 30 of 35 games at Govoni in 2018 and 2019.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers did not make an error in the home opener on Monday and rank 24th in Division III in fielding percentage (.972).
• After playing six games against teams ranked in the current D3baseball.com Top 25 poll, Babson boasts the third-ranked strength of schedule in the country.
• The Green and White have won six of seven games this spring when allowing two extra-base hits or fewer.
• The Beavers have reached base with at least one walk in 14 straight outings.
