SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 6-5 all-time against Plymouth State in a series that dates back to 2002.
• Monday's matchup is just the second between the teams since 2017 after not playing due to the COVID-19 pandemic over the last two seasons and getting rained out twice in 2018.
• Neither team has won two straight games in the series over the last decade.
LAST MEETING
• Edward Lehr '19 went 2-for-4 with five runs batted in and Eric Jaun '19 doubled, tripled and drove in three runs as the Beavers defeated Plymouth State in seven innings, 13-3, on March 25, 2019, in Babson Park.
• Jaun produced a three-run triple and Lehr had a bases-clearing double as part of Babson's 11-run fifth inning uprising that broke a 1-1 deadlock.
• Geoff Kayo went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI for the Panthers, who finished with seven hits.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (5-4) wrapped up its trip to Port Charlotte, Fla., with a 10-5 victory over 15th-ranked Denison on Thursday afternoon.
• Sophomore Francis Kiely went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored and senior Sean Burychka added a two-run double for the Beavers, who broke a 4-4 tie with six runs in the top of the ninth inning.
• Kiely is batting .375 with two doubles and five RBI in eight starts, Burychka is hitting .333 with two doubles, five RBI and five runs scored, and senior Josh Yellen checks in at .306 and has scored six runs to go along with a team-high seven runs batted in.
• Junior Anthony St. John (1-0, 2.12 ERA) has gone seven innings in each of his starts, classmate Stephen McLendon is 1-1 with three saves in six relief appearances and fellow junior Tim Person is 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA in three games out of the bullpen.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
• Plymouth State (5-8) has been off since suffering a 14-4 loss to Pitt-Bradford on the final day of its trip to Fort Myers, Fla.
• Alex Rives and Griffin Crane both had two hits and an RBI and Joshua Welch doubled and scored as part of a two-hit day for the Panthers, who gave up 11 runs over the first three innings.
• Danny Quinn is batting .386 with a pair of extra-base hits and nine RBI, Owen Baum boasts a .375 average to go along with four doubles, a triple, nine RBI and 14 runs scored, and Bryan McGrath has homered twice and driven in 10 runs in 10 starts this spring.
• Trey Parker has gone 1-1 with a 3.07 ERA in three starts and Noah Watcher is 0-2 with two saves and 16 strikeouts in 17.1 innings on the year for Plymouth State, which has allowed six or more runs in eight of its first 13 contests.
BALANCED BEAVERS
• Through its first nine games, seven players have recorded at least eight hits and nine different players have driven in at least three runs for Babson.
• Yellen and seniors Thomas Lapham and Andrew Dembowski lead the team with three multi-hit games, while Burychka has a pair of three-hit outings this spring.
HOME SWEET HOME
• Monday's home opener against Plymouth State begins a stretch that sees the Beavers play six of their next nine games at Govoni Field.
• Babson is 44-6 at home going back to April 22, 2016, which includes going 5-3 in contests against WPI and Wheaton during last year's abbreviated schedule after winning 30 of 35 games at Govoni in 2018 and 2019.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers rank 27th in Division III in fielding percentage (.972) with 10 errors in their first nine outings.
• Babson, which has played six games against teams ranked in the current D3baseball.com Top 25 poll, boasts the third-ranked strength of schedule in the country.
• The Green and White is 5-0 this season and has won its last 23 games when allowing five runs or less, a streak that extends back to May 2019.
