WHAT TO KNOW
• Babson and Coast Guard will open New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday at 1 p.m. at MacDowell Field.
• The Beavers defeated the Bears in the 2021 NEWMAC championship game, 15-7, and were picked 1-2 in this spring's preseason coaches' poll.

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 4-2 all-time against Coast Guard in a series that dates back to 2015, and 1-1 at MacDowell Field.
• The Beavers won the first three games in the series from 2015-17, and the Bears took the next two in 2018 & 2019. The 2020 game was cancelled due to the pandemic and Babson won last year's NEWMAC title game in New London, Conn.

LAST MEETING
John Calicchio '21 and senior Ryan Donovan each scored three times and sophomore Grey Sunderland won 18-of-24 face-offs to help second-seeded Babson defeat top-seeded Coast Guard, 15-7, in the NEWMAC Tournament final on May 8, 2021 at Cadet Memorial Field.
Sean Smith '21G and graduate student Lee Sipes both finished with two goals and an assist, while junior Chi Chi Price scored twice for the Beavers. Sunderland led all players with eight ground balls, NEWMAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player John Antaya '21 added four ground balls, and senior Mac Mowat made eight of his season-high 12 saves in the second half for Babson.
• Junior Caleb Holdridge scored three times and Will Iorio '21 finished with two goals and two assists to lead the Bears. Tom Uhl '21 led all players with three caused turnovers and junior Dan Lucas made 14 saves in the loss.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (3-1) is coming off a 10-9 overtime road victory at Endicott last Saturday in Beverly, Mass. on a goal by Sipes 3:01 into OT as the Beavers rallied from a four-goal first-half deficit to pull out the win.
• Senior Peter Chisholm, junior Matt Stucchi and Sipes all finished with two goals and one assist to lead the Beavers. Junior Chi Chi Price added one goal and one assist and junior Tyler Hughey, sophomore Jacob Tauss and first-year Colt Bordonaro tallied one goal each.
• Sunderland picked up a team-high four ground balls for the Beavers in the win. Sophomore Brendan Maher registered a team-high four caused turnovers and scooped up two ground balls and junior Kyle Sanborn finished with three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Mowat recorded the win in goal with a season-high 14 saves.
• Stucchi (9-1-10) leads the team in scoring, followed by Sipes (7-2-9) and sophomores Tauss (7-0-7) and Topher Bower (4-3-7). Sunderland has won 40-of-68 face-offs and leads the team with 20 ground balls and junior Kyle Sanborn has 13 ground balls and a team-high seven caused turnovers. Mowat (.642 sv. pct., 6.78 GAA) ranks second in the NEWMAC in save percentage and fourth in goals against average.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
• Coast Guard (3-2) brings a three-game winning streak into Saturday's game, including an 18-7 triumph over Maritime College (N.Y.) Wednesday in New London, Conn.
• Holdridge scored four goals to go with four assists to lead the Bears. Senior Nate Gee had three goals and two assists, and senior Matt Flynn, sophomore Ian Feely, and first-year Ryan Hunter all put away a pair of goals in the win. Juniors Gaige Kruger, Dylan Rivie, Ryan Flynn, Dan Zarillo, and Taylor Gustafson each recorded a goal for Coast Guard.
• Senior Logan Tobias won 15-of-22 face-offs and scooped up eight ground balls, and sophomore John Bragaw caused four turnovers. Junior Dan Lucas made 12 saves to earn the win in goal.
• Holdridge (11-17-28) ranks sixth in Division III in assists per game, while Gee (11-6-17) and Gustafson (12-3-15) are also double-digit goal scorers. Tobias has collected 38 ground balls and Bragaw has 10 caused turnovers. Lucas (.471 sv. pct., 12.00 GAA) has started all five games in goal.

BEAVERS IN THE NCAA RANKINGS
• Mowat (.642 sv. pct., 6.78 GAA) ranks 16h in Division III in save percentage and 21st in goals against average. Stucchi is 44th nationally with three man-up goals.
• Babson ranks 29th out of 243 schools in Division III in scoring defense, allowing just 7.50 goals per game, and is also 64th in face-off winning percentage (.584).

BALANCED SCORING
• Ten different players have scored at least one goal through four games, which includes seven players with at least five tallies.
• Four players, Bower, Price, Chisholm and sophomore Alex Fairman all have three assists and have accounted for 12 of the Beavers' 16 helpers this spring.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers have outscored their first three opponents 13-3 in the second quarter and 24-14 in the first half.
• The Green and White is 17-1 when allowing eight goals or fewer going back to the 2018-19 campaign.
• Babson is 2-0 this spring when winning more face-offs and scooping up more ground balls than its opponents.

UP NEXT
• The Beavers are back on the road next Saturday, traveling to Worcester, Mass., for a visit to Clark for a NEWMAC encounter at 3 p.m.
