No. 9 Field Hockey Downs Clark 4-0 to Secure Seventh Consecutive NEWMAC Regular Season Title

WORCESTER, Mass.—Sophomore Camille Marsh (Englewood, Colo.) scored a pair of goals to help No. 9 Babson College roll to a 4-0 win over Clark University in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) field hockey action on Saturday afternoon at Granger Field.

With its 10th consecutive victory, Babson improves to 14-3 overall and 7-0 in league play. The Beavers also cliched a share of their seventh consecutive NEWMAC regular season title and the top seed in next month's conference tournament. Clark drops to 6-10 overall and 1-7 in conference play with its third straight loss.

Senior Isabelle Fournier (West Kingston, R.I.) and sophomore Berit Sharrow (Denver, Colo.) each scored once, while senior Meara Hanyon (Brodheadsville, Pa.) and sophomore Jessica Evans (Southbury, Conn.) both contributed an assist for the Beavers. Sophomore goalkeeper Bayla Furmanek (State College, Pa.) made one save to record her sixth shutout of the season in the win.

First-year Loren Root (Sherborn, Mass.) made stopped 10 shots and classmate Emma Macintire (Worcester, Mass.) added two defensive saves for the Cougars.

The Green and White jumped on top just 3:33 into the match when Evans collected a rebound and slid a pass to Fournier in front for her fifth goal of the season. Root made six first-quarter saves the Beavers hit the post early in the first and twice more to begin the second quarter before Sharrow made it 2-0 with a blast from the left side of the circle following a penalty corner with 7:53 to go before halftime.

Marsh extended the lead to 3-0 with a backhand sweep from the middle of the circle after Clark was unable to clear the ball following a corner just over nine minutes into the third quarter. She added her second marker of the afternoon with 8:48 to go in the fourth lifting the ball over Root and inside the left post after weaving through defenders on her way into the circle.

Furmanek made her lone save of the game late in the first quarter when she stepped off her line to kick away a bouncing shot by Cougars' first-year Ciaran Cubbage (Fredericksburg, Va.).

The Beavers finished the afternoon with a 41-3 edge in shots while attempting 16 of the game's 19 penalty corners.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday as Babson hosts Endicott at 6 p.m., while Clark concludes its season with a 7 p.m. match at Western New England.

• The Beavers are 21-15-2 all-time against Clark and has won 18 straight games in the series dating back to 2004.
• Babson extended its NEWMAC regular season winning streak to 49 games with Saturday's victory, a run that now includes 25 straight road wins against conference foes.
• The Green and White has outscored opponents 28-6 during its 10-game winning streak.
• The Beavers have won their last 35 games in the month of October since 2018.
