Riley Becomes Program's All-Time Shutout Leader as Beavers Clinch Share of Sixth Consecutive NEWMAC Regular Season Title

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Seniors Millie Brady (Far Hills, N.J.) and Lauren Curley both scored a pair of goals and classmate Cassidy Riley (Niantic, Conn.) broke the program's all-time shutout mark as fourth-ranked Babson College defeated visiting Clark University, 7-0, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) field hockey action on Saturday afternoon at MacDowell Field.

With its 12th consecutive victory, Babson (15-1, 7-0 NEWMAC) clinched at least a share of its sixth straight regular season conference title. Clark dropped its ninth game in a row to fall to 2-14 overall and 0-8 in league play.

Senior Quinn Greer (Providence, R.I.) finished with a goal and two assists, while junior Brianne McGrath (Newmarket, Ontario) added a goal and an assist for the Beavers. First-year Jessica Evans (Southbury, Conn.) scored once and junior Meara Hanyon (Broadheadsville, Pa.) and Amber Rose (Falmouth, Maine) both chipped in with an assist.

Riley stopped all five shots she faced to record her seventh shutout of the season and the 20th of her career for Babson.

Senior Grace Sawyer (Windham, Maine) finished with a season-high 23 saves for the Cougars.

Evans tipped in a shot by Greer for a 1-0 lead just over four minutes into the contest, and the Green and White scored three times in the span of 3:35 early in the second quarter to pull away. Curley finished off a feed from Greer 1:22 into the frame for her first goal, Greer made it 3-0 just 39 seconds later, and Brady notched the first of her two markers off a penalty corner at the 4:57 mark extending the margin to four.

Sawyer did her best to keep Clark in the game with 14 third-quarter saves before the Beavers tacked on three more goals in the final stanza. McGrath hammered a shot through traffic to make it 5-0 with 10 minutes remaining, Brady followed with her team-leading 13th tally three minutes later, and Curley converted a feed from Rose at the left post in the waning seconds for the final margin.

The Green and White outshot the Cougars 40-7 and finished with a 24-6 advantage in penalty corners.

Babson is back in action on Tuesday when it travels to Endicott at 6 p.m., while Clark wraps up its season at home next Saturday at 12 p.m. against Western New England.
