Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn.—Seven different players scored and senior goalkeeper Cassidy Riley (Niantic, Conn.) became the program's all-time wins leader as fifth-ranked Babson College cruised to a 10-2 victory over Connecticut College in non-conference field hockey action on Sunday afternoon at Silfen Field.
With its 10th straight win, Babson improves to 14-1 overall. Connecticut College lost its eighth consecutive match and is now 1-11 on the year.
Junior Isabelle Fournier (West Kingston, R.I.), classmate Claire Nichols (St. Louis, Mo.) and first-year Jessica Evans (Southbury, Conn.) each scored twice for the Beavers. Senior Lauren Curley (Stow, Mass.) recorded a goal and an assist, while classmates Millie Brady (Far Hills, N.J.) and Quinn Greer (Providence, R.I.), and junior Amber Rose (Falmouth, Maine) each scored once in the win.
Riley stopped four of the five shots she faced over the first three quarters to pass Jess Pashos '12 for first all-time with her 48th career victory.
Sophomore Hope Melanson (Wakefield, Mass.) and senior Logan Kilfoyle (Plymouth, Mass.) both scored for the Camels, who got 13 saves from senior goalkeeper Jackie Mountford (New London, N.H.).
The Green and White took command of the game by scoring four times over the first 13 minutes. Brady got on the board with her team-leading 11th tally at the 4:01 mark, Greer knocked in a rebound less than two minutes later, and Curley tipped in the rebound of junior Brianne McGrath's (Newmarket, Ontario) blast that went off the post to make it 3-0 less than eight minutes into the contest.
Nichols capped the first-quarter onslaught by converting a feed across the front of goal by Curley at 12:36.
Connecticut College cut its deficit to 4-1 on Melanson's tally just 1:11 into the third quarter, only to see the Beavers respond with five straight goals. Evans scored twice in less than two minutes and Fournier followed with two straight markers to extend Babson's lead to 7-1 less than three minutes into the fourth.
Nichols tipped in the rebound of a blast by Rose with 6:04 to play and Rose notched her first goal of the year with less than two minutes to go for the final margin.
The Beavers outshot Connecticut College 33-9 and finished with a 12-9 edge in penalty corners.
Babson returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Wellesley at 4 p.m., while the Camels host Western New England on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
