WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College men's lacrosse senior Kevin Klempner (Stuart, Fla.) and junior Alex Lesher (Scottsdale, Ariz.) were honored for their work in the classroom when they were named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference team on Wednesday.
Klempner, who returned to the program after studying abroad in 2019, was the Beavers' main face-off man in five games this past spring. He won 39-of-90 face-offs (43.3 percent) and chipped in with one assist.
A two-time academic all-conference honoree, Klempner won 49.8 percent of his face-offs (159-of-319) and finished with two goals and five assists for seven points over 22 career contests.
Lesher, who also was named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference squad for the second time, scored his lone goal of the spring in the Beavers' 13-1 win over Roger Williams in the season opener on February 19. He has 16 goals and four assists for 20 points in 29 career outings for the Green and White.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2019 fall semester, achieved second-year academic status at his institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
The Beavers, who won three of their first four games, wrapped up the year at 3-3 after the NCAA cancelled all spring sports due to the COVID-19 outbreak on March 12.
