Low gave the Green and White a 1-0 lead when he converted a feed from Doten at the 12:47 mark of the first quarter. Union responded with a six-goal run though, scoring five times in the final 11:15 of the first quarter, and building a 6-1 lead on Richardson's first of the day with 13:10 to go in the second quarter.

Barsalou stopped the run with a goal at the 9:21 mark, and Doten followed with a man-up goal with 4:25 to play in the second quarter to pull the Beavers to within 6-3 at halftime.

Basile made three saves in the first in the early part of the third quarter to help the Dutchmen maintain its lead, and Ross and Richardson both scored late in the stanza to push the hosts' lead back to 8-3 after three. Russo won the opening face-off of the fourth quarter and scored his first goal of the season at 14:23 to cut the Beavers' deficit to four, but Basile made seven fourth-quarter stops to halt the comeback.

Rosenthal gave Union a five-goal edge with his tally at the 9:17 mark, and then set up Gregory's second marker to make it 10-4 with 5:23 to go.

Babson first-year goalkeeper Jordan Shapiro (Pleasantville, N.Y.) made eight saves and picked up five groundballs.

The Green and White won 11-of-18 face-offs and held a 43-39 edge in shots on the afternoon, while both teams finished with 35 groundballs. The Beavers went just 1-for-9 on man-up opportunities.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday as Babson hosts New England College at 3:30 p.m., while Union visits Wesleyan at 4 p.m.
