Box Score HOBOKEN, N.J.—Henri Halle finished with four goals and one assist as Colorado College defeated Babson College, 10-3, in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Friday morning at the De Baun Athletic Complex on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology.
With the win, Colorado College is now 7-2 overall, while Babson falls to 3-4 on the year.
Dylan Davie had two goals and one assist, while Sam Dardani scored once and added an assist for the Tigers. Ian Pelto and Jack McCormick both finished with a team-high three groundballs in the win.
Junior Scott Doten (Western Springs, Ill.) had a goal and an assist to lead the Beavers. Senior Kyle Barsalou (Longmeadow, Mass.) and junior Spencer Low (Natick, Mass.) each scored once, and senior Phil Russo (Middleton, Mass.) won 10-of-13 face-offs and led all players with six groundballs. Classmate Zach Bastarache contributed three groundballs and a game-high three caused turnovers in the loss.
Barsalou staked the Green and White to a 1-0 lead with his goal just 1:34 into the first quarter, but Colorado College answered with a four-goal run. Halle converted a feed from Davie for an extra-man tally to tie the game at 11:37 of the first quarter, and then scored 53 seconds into the second quarter for a 2-1 lead.
Dardani and Davie pushed the Tigers lead to 4-1 before Doten scored on the extra-man to get Babson back within 4-2 with 1:54 to go in the second quarter. Halle notched his third goal late the stanza to give the Tigers a 5-2 halftime edge.
Halle and Taylor Paul scored the only two goal of the third quarter, and the Colorado College defense dominated the second half, holding the Beavers to just a late goal. Davie pushed the lead to 8-2 with his second goal of the day at the 11:53 mark of the fourth quarter, and the Tigers took their biggest advantage of the day at 10-2 on McCormick's goal with 3:10 remaining. Low scored off a feed from Doten for Babson in the closing seconds for the final margin.
Beavers' first-year goalkeeper Jordan Shapiro (Pleasantville, N.Y.) finished with six saves, while Chase Murphy of Colorado College made seven of his 16 stops in the first quarter.
The Green and White finished with a 35-34 edge in shots and won 13-of-17 face-offs on the day.
Babson returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Connecticut College at 4:30 p.m., while Colorado College takes on Stevens at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
