NEW LONDON, Conn.—Junior forward Caroline Malone (Walpole, Mass.) scored twice in the opening 14 minutes of the match to help visiting Babson College to a 3-1 victory at Connecticut College in non-conference field hockey action on Sunday afternoon.

Babson, which is receiving votes in the latest National Field Hockey Coach Association (NFHCA) coaches poll, won its third straight game to move to 13-4 overall, while Connecticut College dropped to 7-6 on the season.

Junior Morgan Lockwood (Feeding Hills, Mass.) added a goal and an assist for the Beavers while sophomore Soozin Kang (Bordentown, N.J.) chipped in with an assist. Malone has scored five goals in the last three games for Babson and now has three multi-goal games on the season.

The Beavers wasted little time in jumping ahead of the Camels as Malone opened the scoring just 1:07 into the game, scoring on a breakaway to go up 1-0. Just under 13 minutes later Malone would double the lead as she took a feed from Lockwood and beat Camels' sophomore goalkeeper Becca Napolitano (Hamden, Conn.) for her 15th goal of the season.

Connecticut College trimmed the Babson lead in half just minutes before halftime as sophomore Laura Sanderson (Hanover, N.H.) scored her first goal of the season off an assist from junior Jillian Dahrooge (Charlton, Mass.) at the 32:42 mark. But just 7:11 after halftime, Lockwood scored her team-best 25th goal of the season to help the Beavers regain their two goal advantage.

Babson junior goalkeeper Kayla Florence (Milton, Mass.) made six saves to earn her 13th win of the season, while Napolitano made two saves in a losing effort for Connecticut College.

The Camels help a slim 7-5 advantage in shots and an 8-5 advantage in penalty corners on the afternoon.

Both teams will wrap up their regular season schedules this week as Connecticut College hosts Amherst on Wednesday night and Babson, which has clinched a share of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season title, takes on Mount Holyoke on Saturday afternoon at 12:00p.m.
