BABSON PARK, Mass. – Babson College first-year
Morgan Lockwood (Feeding Hills, Mass.) set a new
program record with 11 points in a single game as she led the
Beavers to a convincing 7-0 victory over visiting Eastern
Connecticut State University in a non-conference field hockey
contest at MacDowell Field on Tuesday night.
After scoring her first collegiate goal in Babson's
season-opening win over Endicott last week, Lockwood erupted for
four goals and three assists for 11 points in the first 30 minutes
alone – surpassing the program's former single-game
mark of 10 points set by two-time First Team All-American
Elise Conley '06 back in 2004.
Junior Courtney Weaving (New Preston, Conn.)
added two goals in the first half for the Beavers, while senior
captain Sarah Fredlund (New Preston, Conn.) also
scored – all three goals coming off Lockwood assists. As a
result, Babson entered the break with a commanding 7-0 lead that
would prove to be the final.
Junior Jess Pashos (Winchester, Mass.) did not
face a shot in the first half in net for Babson, while first-year
Kayla Florence (Milton, Mass.) played the final 35
minutes in her collegiate debut. For Eastern Connecticut State,
junior Danielle Reichardt (Ocean Township, N.J.) started and made
five saves in the first half, while senior Tia Mucciarone
(Franklin, Mass.) turned away five more shots in the second half
for the Warriors.
