BOX SCORE
NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College field hockey team
secured a 2-1 victory against Babson College in a non-conference
game played on the Artificial Turf at Silfen Field Tuesday.
The Camels (6-5) put an end to a three-game slide with the
triumph while the Beavers slip to 10-5 with the setback.
Ali Holland (Watertown, Mass.) and Abby Hine (Madison, Conn.)
both scored goals for the winning side. Junior Kelly Watkins (San
Jose, Calif.) anchored a stout Camel defense that limited Babson's
high-powered offense to just one goal on 11 corners.
Holland opened the scoring with 27:32 remaining in the second
half. The goal was set up by Kelsey Nickerson (Weston, Mass.), who
delivered a cross into the center of the scoring circle. The Camels
extended their lead when Andrea Hoisington (Brownsville, Vt.)
assisted senior Abby Hine on the 37th goal of her career at the
53-minute mark.
The Beavers finally got on the board with 1:54 remaining, when
first-year Morgan Lockwood (Feeding Hills, Mass.)
scored her team-leading 18th marker off a penalty corner.
Junior Jessica Pachos (Winchester, Mass.) made
eight saves in the loss for the visitors. Aimee Rich (Darien,
Conn.) stopped five shots in the victory for the Camels.
