Springfield College sophomore attack Jake Beebe (Sudbury, Mass.) led all players with eight points of offense with three goals and five assists as the Pride powered past Babson College on Saturday afternoon, 19-9, in Pilgrim Lacrosse League action at Benedum Field.
SC remains perfect in the Pilgrim League with today's victory, improving to 5-0 on the season and 5-7 overall. The Beavers of Babson College fall to 5-5 overall on the year and 3-2 in league play.
Pride freshman attack Joe Heney (Plainview, N.Y.) added three goals and three assists for six total points of offense in this afternoon's win. Junior midfielders Greg Welch (Peabody, Mass.) and Tyler Montgomery (Brunswick, Me.), and freshman attack Kyle Gable (Somers, Conn.) each chipped in with two goals. In recording his fourth victory of the season, senior goalkeeper Kyle Cloutier (South Hadley, Mass.) made an impressive 17 saves in 48 minutes (47:09) of action.
Babson College was paced by sophomore attack R.J. Moulton (Manhassett, N.Y.) with three goals. Freshman attack Luke Biggins (Sudbury, Mass.) added two goals and a team-high three assists, and sophomore midfielder Bryan Wilbur (Hingham, Mass.) chipped in with one goal and two assists. Despite the loss, sophomore Max Owen (Hamilton, N.J.) made 12 saves in net during 45 minutes of play.
After SC led 3-1 at the end of the first quarter, the Beavers opened the second quarter with two consecutive goals in under two minutes to tie the contest at three-all. However, the Pride respodned with seven straight goals to take a commanding 10-3 advantage. The Pride later went up 13-4 en route to the 19-9 victory.
