SERIES HISTORY
• The Beavers are 27-15-3 all-time against the Lyons in a series that dates back to 1988.
• Babson has won 10 in a row over Mount Holyoke by a combined score of 52-7 after the Lyons had won four straight in the series from 2013-15 by a combined count of 11-3.
• The Green and White have won the last five contests over the Lyons at MacDowell Field since 2016.

LAST MEETING
• Junior Penny Baroni and senior Ashley Braren scored goals in the middle two quarters to lead No. 6 Babson to a 2-1 victory over Mount Holyoke on September 27, 2025, at the MHC Turf.
• Junior Taylor Shoflick collected an assist on the game-winning goal, and sophomore Madison Tibbals made one save in goal for the Beavers, who outshot the hosts 21-2, including 9-2 in shots on target.
• Mount Holyoke got a goal from junior MJ Owens and seven saves from Ainsley Gruener '26 in the setback.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 7 Babson (5-2, 1-0 NEWMAC) has posted three consecutive shutout victories, including a 6-0 whitewash of Wellesley in the NEWMAC opener last Saturday at MacDowell Field.
• Junior Lauren Golden and senior Helen DiGiovanni tallied two goals apiece and junior Charlotte Roe and Braren also scored for the Green and White. Senior Emma Smith contributed a pair of assists, classmates Samantha Kelly and Jenny Purtell, Baroni and Shoflick, and sophomore Molly DiGiulio also registered helpers in the victory.
• DiGiovanni (7-0-14) has four goals in her last three games and leads the team in scoring while Baroni (5-2-12) has a hat trick and an assist in her last two outings. Roe (2-1-5) recorded all five of her points in two games last week and Golden (2-0-4) is coming off her first career two-goal game.
• Tibbals (1.23 GAA, 14 saves) has started 30 consecutive games dating back to last fall and is 5-2 with three shutouts this season.

SCOUTING THE LYONS
• Mount Holyoke (5-1, 0-1 NEWMAC) suffered its first loss of the season in its NEWMAC opener against MIT, 3-2, last Saturday on the MHC Turf.
• MIT needed two fourth-quarter goals to defeat the Lyons, including the game-winner with 20 seconds remaining. Owens and senior Diane Lee notched third-quarter goals to give the hosts a 2-1 lead heading into the final frame. First-year Addie Oakes finished with seven saves in goal in the setback.
• Lee (6-6-18) has at least one goal in five of her six outings and tops the NEWMAC in assists, and Owens (6-0-12) and Lee are tied for third in the conference in goals. Sophomore Zoey Candito (4-2-10) adds to an offense that has outscored its opponents 22-6.
• Oakes (0.93 GAA, 17 saves) is 5-1 in six starts between the pipes with two shutouts and leads the league in goals against average.

CALL TO THE HALL
•    Babson field hockey's all-time leader in goals and assists, Morgan Lockwood '14, will be inducted into the Babson Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday night. 
•    A 2012 All-America selection, Lockwood was the first player in program history to earn all-conference and all-region first-team accolades in all four seasons while finishing her career with 87 goals and 38 assists for 212 points. 
•    Lockwood set the program's freshman scoring record with 26 goals and seven assists for 59 points while helping the Beavers claim their first NEWMAC Tournament crown in 2010. 

PRIDE/ALLY GAME
• Babson and Mount Holyoke will play Friday's game to raise awareness and donations for Athlete Ally, an organization that commits to ending homophobia and transphobia in sports by empowering athletes and organizations to use their leadership in championing LGBTQI+ equality.
• All NEWMAC institutions stand with Athlete Ally in working to provide everyone equal access, opportunity, and experience in sports. The goal is to help Athlete Ally continue its activism in providing education and meaningful change in and through sports.

WEEKLY RECOGNITION
• Golden became the second Beaver this season to earn NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week when she received the honor on Monday.
• Golden keyed a staunch defensive effort as Babson recorded back-to-back shutouts over the University of New England and Wellesley. The junior defender along with the Beavers' back line gave up just two shots to the Nor'easters and held the Blue without a shot or a penalty corner.

NEWMAC DOMINANCE
• Babson has won 78 consecutive NEWMAC regular season games over the last 11 years. The last regular season loss was a 1-0 verdict at Mount Holyoke on October 17, 2015.
• The Beavers have captured 54 straight contests against NEWMAC opponents, including the conference tournament, since the start of the 2021 campaign. The last setback was a 3-2 overtime loss to MIT in the 2019 NEWMAC title game.
• The Green and White have won 10 consecutive NEWMAC regular season titles since 2015 and have captured five straight tournament championships since 2021.

NEWMAC LEADERS
• DiGiovanni is second in the NEWMAC with seven goals, ranks third with 14 points, and leads the league with three game-winners.
• Baroni is tied for fifth in goals, tied for fourth in points and tied for second in game-winning goals.
• Smith is tied for second in the conference with four assists and Shoflick is tied for fourth with three helpers.
• Tibbals is second in the NEWMAC in goals against average (1.23) and leads the way with three shutouts.

HOME SWEET HOME
• Babson is 3-1 at home this season and has won 26 of its last 27 games at MacDowell Field since a loss to Middlebury on September 15, 2024.
• The Beavers have won 42 of 44 home games over the last four seasons and 66 of their last 72 outings since the start of the 2021 season.

BEAVER BITES
• Golden doubled her career total to four goals with her two scores against Wellesley last Saturday.
• Purtell recorded her first career point with an assist against Wellesley, and Kelly's assist was her first point since scoring a goal in a win over Skidmore on September 20, 2023.
• DiGiovanni has at least one goal in five of her seven games this season with a pair of multi-goal outings.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Babson has won 34 games in a row going back to 2024 and is 97-2 since 2021 when scoring the first goal of the game.
• The Beavers have won 90 consecutive games when leading at halftime.
• Going back to 2023, the Green and White have won their last 55 games when scoring at least two goals.

• The Beavers will face their fifth nationally-ranked team this season on Tuesday when they travel to No. 2 Tufts for a 6 p.m. battle in Medford.
