WHAT TO KNOW
• The Babson women's golf team heads to Brunswick Golf Club to compete in its first 36-hole tournament of the season on Saturday and Sunday at the Polar Bear Shootout.
• The Beavers are making their fourth straight appearance at the event, which features 14 teams on the 5,702-yard par 73 layout at Brunswick GC.
2025 POLAR BEAR SHOOTOUT HIGHLIGHTS
• Sophomore
Vanya Bansal recorded the lowest score in relation to par in program history with a 2-under 71 in round one and became the program's first player to finish a 36-hole tournament under par posting a 1-under 145 to help Babson finish sixth on October 4-5, 2025.
• Bansal came in ninth overall, junior
Camila Amaya shot 75-79 to tie for 22nd at 8-over and classmate
Alice Zhu closed with a 1-over 74 to tie for 27th position at 9-over 155 for the Beavers.

Hannah McCarthy followed up an opening 74 with a round of 82 to finish in a tie for 31st at 10-over as the Green and White shot 301-309 to post a 36-hole total of 610.
ABOUT THE BEAVERS
• Babson, which returns 11 players from its 2025-26 squad that finished the season at No. 26 in the Scoreboard Division III rankings, opened the season by posting a score of 317 to finish second among three teams at last Saturday's Ann S. Batchelder Invitational at Nehoiden Golf Club in Wellesley, Mass.
• First-year
Anita Wang tied for third place with a 3-over 75 in her collegiate debut, Bansal and sophomore
Katie Yang shot 78 and tied for seventh at 6-over, Amaya placed 10th with a 7-over 79 and sophomore
Francesca Choquette carded an 8-over 80 in her first career event.
• Bansal led the team with a 76.75 scoring average and posted four top-15 finishes on the way to being named CWGC Player and Rookie of the Year last season, while Yang joined her on the all-conference first team after posting a 78.93 stroke average to go along with five top-40 results.
• McCarthy (80.06) also recorded five top-40 showings and earned All-CWGC first-team accolades, while senior
Laura Lu (80.43) and Amaya (80.56) all garnered All-CWGC second-team recognition.
PAGE TURNS TO JONES
• Following a successful three-year stint as an assistant coach at Denison,
Alexander Jones was hired to succeed
Jeff Page as the Beavers' new head men's and women's golf coach back in July.
• Part of the NCAC Coaching Staff of the Year in 2024 and 2025, Jones helped the Big Red's women's squad capture three conference titles in addition to advancing to the NCAA Division III Championship in three consecutive seasons, which includes finishing 16th in 2024 and 19th last May.
• A 2014 graduate of Methodist, Jones returned to his alma mater as the PGA Head Golf Professional and Director of Instruction for the PGA Golf Management Program in 2019 and served as a volunteer assistant for the Monarchs' men's golf program, which won a Division III national championship in 2022.
MAKING HISTORY IN MAINE
• Now in its fourth season, the Babson seniors Lu,
Michelle Guan,
Victoria Salim and
Rachel Sim made their program debut at the Polar Bear Shootout on September 9, 2023.
• In addition to playing its first competitive round at Brunswick GC, seven of the Beavers' top 18 scores in program history have come in the Polar Bear Shootout.
• Bansal's 2-under 71 is the best in six rounds on the course, while Amaya and McCarthy both fired a 1-under 72 in the final round of the 2024 event.
• Additionally, Zhu carded a 1-over 74 in the 2024 final round and the trio of Bansal, McCarthy and Zhu all recorded a 74 at last season's tournament.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers own a 304.00 team scoring average over their last four rounds at Brunswick GC, which includes shooting a 6-over 298 in the final round of the 2024 tournament.
• Babson's 2024 Polar Bear Shootout total of 606 is the program's second lowest 36-hole score after posting 593 through two rounds at the 2025 Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, N.C.
• Amaya, who is the only Babson player in this weekend's lineup to play four rounds at Brunswick GC, owns a 75.5 average at the course.
ABOUT THE FIELD
• Among the 14 teams set to tee it up in this year's Polar Bear Shootout, eight finished last season among the top 20 in the Scoreboard Division III rankings.
• Five squads – No. 4 Williams, No. 6 Amherst, No. 9 Washington & Lee, No. 10 Middlebury and No. 11 Randolph-Macon finished among the top 12 at last May's NCAA Championship.
