SERIES HISTORY
•    First meeting 

LOOKING BACK ON 2025
•    Babson wrapped up the 2025 campaign at 8-5-5 overall and 7-3-1 in NEWMAC, earning the fourth seed in the conference tournament before falling to fifth-seeded Wheaton in the quarterfinals. 
•    The Beavers started 3-0-4, which included a 1-0 victory over 17th-ranked Rowan on September 13, and were 6-1-5 before dropping four of their final six games beginning with a 3-0 loss to No. 8 MIT on October 18. 
•    The Green and White recorded eight shutouts and conceded just 16 goals over 18 games. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Under the direction of new head coach Kerry Baldwin, Babson (0-0) returns five all-conference performers, 10 starters and 25 players in all from its 2025 squad that finished fourth in the NEWMAC regular season standings. 
•    Junior Josie Lee earned all-league first-team honors after leading the team in scoring with with six goals and three assists for 15 points, while NEWMAC Rookie of the Year Izzy Lee and all-junior Lillian McAughan both provided two goals and one assist for five points. 
•    Senior Caroline Sutherland, the reigning NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Year, was second on the team in scoring with three goals, senior midfielder Priscilla-Rose Men-Martin garnered all-conference first-team honors and classmate Jadyn Mapura was named to the all-league team at outside back for the third year in a row. 
•    Senior Claudia Baiter and sophomore Lindsey Cassady both started all 18 games along the back line for the Green and White, which had three goalkeepers play at least 450 minutes last fall. Senior Callahan Cottone made nine starts going 1-1-1 with a 0.55 goals against average and a .889 save percentage before suffering a season-ending injury, while sophomore Maisie Creamer was 4-4-1 with a 1.22 goals against average and a .769 save percentage in nine contests. 

SCOUTING THE VIOLETS
•    NYU (0-0) returns six players that started 12 or more games  and 24 players in all from a team that finished 9-6-4 overall reached the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season before falling on penalties to Wesleyan in the first round. 
•    The Violets bring back eight of their top 10 scorers from a season ago, highlighted by the trio of All-UAA selection Marlee Scanlon (7-1-15), Sari Frankl (5-3-13) and Alexa Buxbaum (5-1-11), who combined for 17 of the team's 42 goals last fall. 
•    Sydney Freese (2-7-11) led the team in assists, Carmen Cicerini added four goals and two assists, and Rena Kalargiros (2-4-8) started all 19 games and was second on the team in assists on the way to earning an All-UAA honorable mention. 
•    The NYU defense is anchored by Frankl, Brooke Stealey and Annabelle Booker in front of goalkeeper Mia Capo, who went 8-5-3 with a 1.08 goals against average, a .773 save percentage and five clean sheets last season. 

BALDWIN ERA BEGINS AT BABSON
•    Baldwin was hired as the sixth head coach in program history back in late July, replacing Nellie Pineault MBA '03, who compiled a 152-94-49 record over 16 seasons from 2010-25. 
•    She spent the last four seasons as the operations coordinator at Harvard after serving as an assistant coach with the Crimson from 2012-14 and 2016-18. 
•    Baldwin was an assistant coach (2007-09) and associate head coach (2014-16) at Brandeis, and was the head girls soccer coach at the Brooks School from 2018-22. 
•    A decorated player, Baldwin was the 2001 Massachusetts Player of the Year, claimed Big East All-Rookie Team honors at Providence at 2002 and played her final three seasons at St. Bonaventure, earning a pair of Atlantic 10 All-Conference accolades while producing 19 goals and six assists for 44 points. 

BABSON PICKED THIRD IN PRESEASON POLL
•    On the heels of its fifth consecutive top-four finish in the regular season league standings, Babson was picked to finish third when the NEWMAC released its preseason coaches' poll in late August. 
•    The Beavers totaled 97 points to finish just ahead of fourth-place Emerson (94 points), while defending league champions MIT garnered 11 of 12 first place votes to finish well ahead of second-place Springfield (102 points). 

BEAVER BITES
•    Sutherland became Babson's first NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Year selection since goalkeeper Lisa Wojnar '12 won the award in 2011. 
•    The Beavers return five all-conference honorees and three all-region selections (Sutherland, Men-Martin, Josie Lee) for the first time in program history. 
•    The Green and White returns 94.4 percent of its scoring from last year's team. 

GETTING TO KNOW THE UAA
•    In addition to facing NYU in next Tuesday's season opener, the Beavers will travel to Brandeis on September 9 and host No. 2 Emory, the defending Division III runner-up, on September 12. 
•    The conference sent seven of its eight programs to the NCAA Tournament last season with six advancing to the second round and three to the national semifinals before Washington (Mo.) defeated Emory in the national championship game. 
•    Outside of its annual match against Brandeis, which has been played in all but three seasons dating back to 1981, Babson's only other game against a UAA foe came in 2009 when it suffered a 5-1 loss at Chicago. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 3-3-3 in season openers since 2016 and are seeking their first victory to being the year since beating Johnson & Wales 3-1 in 2022.
•    Babson went 4-0-1 last season and is 27-0-4 dating back to the start of the 2022 campaign when leading at halftime. 
•    Going back to 2021, the Green and White is 39-3-2 when scoring at least two goals.
•    Sixteen of Babson's 18 games last fall featured a total of three goals or fewer.
