BABSON PARK, Mass.— Sophomore
Edward Wang (Burr Ridge, Ill.) won matches at number one singles and doubles and No. 15 Babson College won five singles matches, including three in three sets, to defeat rival and No. 19 Brandeis University, 5-2, in a battle of top-20 men's tennis teams Thursday afternoon at the Babson Tennis Courts.
With the win, Babson has captured four straight victories over the past six days to improve to 15-4 overall. Brandeis had a three-match winning streak snapped and fell to 10-5 on the season.

Maxim Zlobinsky (Greenvale, N.Y.),
Max Lidman (Stockholm, Sweden),
Dylan O'Connell-DeCerchio (Santa Monica, Calif.) and
Rishi Batlanki (Monroe Township, N.J.) all posted singles victories in the Babson team triumph, and sophomore
Sebastian Mendoza (Weston, Fla.) joined Wang for the win at number one doubles.
The Judges claimed the doubles point with victories in the second and third slots. After Wang and Mendoza downed sophomore Aidan Wang-Fan (Richmond Hill, Ont.) and first-year Oliver Lorenz (Albuquerque, N.M.) at number one, 6-3, sophomore Daniel Shemesh (Modiin, Israel) and first-year Muaz Malik (Dubai, UAE) edged Zlobinsky and first-year
Sourish Gadhi (Morganville, N.J.) at number two, 6-4, and junior Pierce Garbett (Coral Gables, Fla.) and sophomore David Wang (Shanghai, China) outlasted senior
Martin Mejia (Cali, Columbia) and junior
Louis Bourn (Geneva, Switzerland) at number three, 7-6.
Babson rebounded and took a 2-1 lead with decisions in the first two singles matches that completed as Batlanki breezed past Wang at number six, 6-2, 6-1, and Zlobinsky went the distance at number two to knock off Garbett, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Malik leveled the score at 2-2, rallying from down a set to get past Gadhi at number three, 3-6 6-2, 7-6.
The Beavers took the lead for good when Lidman won 7-6, 6-3 over Lorenz at number four. Babson rallied after losing the first set in the remaining two matches as O'Connell-DeCerchio got past Wang-Fan at number five, 2-6, 7-6, 6-1, and Wang downed Shemesh at number one, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6.
The Beavers wrap up the regular season with a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match against Springfield at 10:30 a.m. at the Babson Tennis Courts. The Judges will play on Saturday against No. 9 Bowdoin at 2 p.m. in Brunswick, Maine.
MATCH NOTES
• Babson has won four in a row over the Judges over the past four year and is now 8-20 against Brandeis in a series that goes back to 1995.
• The Beavers are now 5-4 this spring over teams ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III poll.
• The match featured Babson against former assistant Alan Dubrovsky, who is in his first season as the Judges' head coach after serving three years as the Beavers' associate head coach for both men and women.
