BABSON PARK, Mass.— Senior
Terry Li (Los Angeles, Calif.) and graduate student
Beau Burns (Washington, D.C.) combined to win 16-of-19 face-offs and scooped up five ground balls each and 12 different players scored goals as No. 5/8 Babson College celebrated Senior Day with a 16-2 victory over Emerson College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at MacDowell Field.
Babson, ranked fifth in Division III by the US Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) and eighth by USA Lacrosse Magazine, won its fourth consecutive game to up its record to 12-1 overall and 5-0 in the NEWMAC. Emerson has dropped four in a row to slide to 3-10 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

Joey Allen (Philadelphia, Pa.) tallied three goals and an assist, junior
Camden Matthews (Westford, Mass.) had two goals and an assist, and grad student
Patrick McAleavey (Trumbull, Conn.) and senior
Braden Reilly (Reading, Mass.) each contributed a goal and two assists. Senior
Drew Scott (Portland, Ore.), junior
Theo Breton (Fremont, N.H.) and first-year
Josh Queen (Crofton, Md.) all scored their first career goals and sophomore
Henry Rome (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) scored his first of the season in the victory. LI was 9-for-11 on face-offs and Burns was 7-for-8 for the Beavers.
Junior Zachary Stern-Hayes (Brunswick, Maine) finished with a goal and an assist for the Lions and first-year Henry Bradley (Burlingame, Calif.) scored the other goal. Senior Thomas Pozo (Coral Gables, Fla.) and sophomore Liam Donaldson (Westport, Conn.) each caused two ground balls and collected two ground balls in the setback.
The Beavers scored the first five goals before Emerson got on the board late in the first quarter. Senior
Jack Feeks (Georgetown, Mass.) started the scoring parade one minute into the game and Reilly followed just 32 seconds later. Matthews and junior
Rowan Mondello (Wakefield, Mass.) scored a minute apart midway through the quarter and Allen popped in his first of the game to make it 5-0 before Stern-Hayes got one for Emerson to close out the quarter.
The Green and White outscored the Lions 4-0 in the second quarter as Allen went back-to-back and Matthews notched his second of the game early in the frame, and senior
Tyee Ambrosh (Danvers, Mass.) tacked on his second of the season in the final seconds to make it a 9-1 game at the half.
Senior
Bennett Smith (Lake Oswego, Ore.) and McAleavey extended the margin to double-digits early in the third quarter before Bradley scored for the visitors. Scott fired in his first career goal late in the third for the Beavers, and reserves Rome, Queen, Breton and sophomore
Beck Trafton (Miami Beach, Fla.) closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter.
Both teams used three goalies as sophomore
Andrew Almquist (Wakefield, Mass.), first-year
Aidan Adams (Hyattsville, Md.), and junior
Arthur Peters (Dallas, Texas) combined for 14 saves in the Beaver goal and senior Ethan Corby (Whitby, Ont.), sophomore Jacob Goldberg (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) and first-year Andrew McKenzie (Laurel, N.Y.) combined for 18 stops in the Lions cage.
Babson is home again on Tuesday for a showdown against No. 1/1 Tufts at 4 p.m. at MacDowell Field. Emerson returns home to host Salve Regina next Saturday at 7 p.m. at Rotch Field.
GAME NOTES
• Babson is 13-0 all-time against Emerson in a series that dates back to 2014 and all of the regular season meetings between the teams have been decided by at least seven goals.
• The Beavers are 29-5 in regular season NEWMAC games going back to the shortened 2021 season.
• With four new goal scorers the spring, the Green and White have gotten goals from 36 different players this season, with 14 scoring at least five goals.
• This year's Babson seniors have been the most decorated class in program history with a four-year record of 55-16 along with two NEWMAC regular season titles, three straight conference tournament championships and three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including the first three NCAA Tournament victories in program history.
