BABSON PARK, Mass.— Senior Jack Regnery (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) scored a game-high six points on four goals and two assists and sophomore Jack Old (Columbus, Ohio) made 10 saves as No. 1/1 Tufts University defeated No. 5/7 Babson College, 17-8, in a battle of top-5 men's lacrosse teams Tuesday afternoon at MacDowell Field.
Babson, ranked fifth in Division III by the US Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) and seventh by USA Lacrosse Magazine, dropped to 12-2 overall while Tufts, ranked first in both polls, improved to 13-0 this season and extended its winning streak to 41 games dating back to 2024.

Joey Allen (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored two goals and added an assist and senior
Bennett Smith (Lake Oswego, Ore.) collected three assists for the Beavers. Junior
Seamus Rooney (Bay Shore, N.Y.) scored twice, grad student
Beau Burns (Washington, D.C.) won 10-of-13 face-offs and scooped up eight ground balls before suffering an injury, and grad student
Mason Dorr (Concord, Mass.) caused two turnovers and grabbed three ground balls in the setback, while sophomore
Andrew Almquist (Wakefield, Mass.) made 19 saves in goal, his third-most in a game this season.
Senior Garrett Kelly (Atlanta, Ga.) scored three times and junior Will Emsing (Norwell, Mass.) producted two goals and an assist for the Jumbos. Senior Brooks Hauser (Denver, Colo.) also scored twice, senior Ben Clarke (Wellesley, Mass.) and junior Lucas De La Paz (Irvine, Calif.) shared team-high honors with four ground balls each, Hauser and sophomore William Bonner (Darien, Conn.) eadh caused three turnovers to spark the defense.
The Beavers took a one-goal lead three times in the first quarter, only to see Tufts match them each time. Junior
Bruno Batty (Jamaica Plain, Mass.) opened the scoring 59 seconds into the game before Regnery came right back with a goal 28 seconds later. Rooney fired in a man-up goal for the Green and White three minutes later but Bonner responded just 75 seconds later, and Hauser answered Rooney's second goal of the game to level the score at 3-3 with five minutes to go in the opening frame.
Regnery's second goal game gave the Jumbos their first lead late in the first period, and Kelly opened the second period with a goal for the visitors. Grad student
Patrick McAleavey (Trumbull, Conn.) got one back for the Babson to slice the margin back to one goal, but the Jumbos took over with six unanswered goals to end the second quarter and start the third. Emsing had two goals in the rally and Clarke, Hauser, Kelly and Regnery had one each as the lead ballooned to 11-4.
The Beavers showed some spark and broke a 15-minute scoreless streak with back-to-back goals by Allen and senior
Braden Reilly (Reading, Mass.), but Regnery and Kelly matches those as Tufts pushed the score to 13-6 with 13 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. The Jumbos outscored the Beavers 4-2 the rest of the way on goals by junior Jackson Redd (Wilmington, Del.), sophomore Henry Tweedy (Jamaice Plains, Mass.), first-year Sean Sheehan (Jupiter, Fla.) and senior Bowman Rhinesmith (Duxbury, Mass.) while Allen and sophomore
Grayson Ambrosh (Danvers, Mass.) scored to the hosts.
Tufts finished with a 60-34 margin in shots, but Babson won 15-of-28 face-offs and ground balls were tied at 36-apiece. Babson was 2-for-3 on man-up situations while the Jumbos were 0-for-1.
Babson plays its final two regular season games on the road, beginning Friday at Clark at 7 p.m. in Worcester. Tufts travels to Hamilton on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest in Clinton, N.Y.
GAME NOTES
• Babson is 4-16 all-time against Tufts in a series that dates back to 1979 after dropping their last 10 straight to the Jumbos.
• The Beavers' only two losses this season are to the teams currently ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in Division III this spring.
• The Green and White lost at home for just the second time in eight games this season and third time in the last 28 games going back to the start of the 2024 campaign.
• Babson is 3-2 against nationally-ranked teams this season and 5-5 against ranked foes going back to last spring.
• Rooney extended his point streak to 31 games going back to the start of last season, and Smith has multiple points in 11 straight games and is the only Beaver to register at least one point in all 14 outings this spring.
