MARLBOROUGH, Mass.— After an impressive performance in a home victory, Babson College graduate student Beau Burns (Philadelphia, Pa.) was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Lacrosse Face-Off Specialist of the Week on Monday afternoon.
 
Burns won 16-of-19 face-offs and matched his career high by picking up 10 ground balls to help No. 9/8 Babson defeat Western New England, 19-8, on Saturday. He did much of his work in the first half winning 11-of-12 face-offs, including each of his last eight, while collecting nine ground balls as the Beavers built an 11-3 lead at the break.
 
A grad transfer from Bowdoin, Burns has won 34 of his 51 face-offs this spring for a 66.7 percentage, which leads the NEWMAC and ranks 37th in Division III. He has also scooped up a team-high 22 ground balls, and his 5.50 ground balls per game ranks fourth in the conference.
 
The Beavers (4-0) face their second ranked team this season in their next outing as they take on No. 17/14 Amherst on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in Amherst, Mass.
