MARLBOROUGH, Mass.— After a dominant performance in a big conference victory, Babson College graduate student Beau Burns (Philadelphia, Pa.) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Lacrosse Face-Off Specialist of the Week for the third week in a row on Monday.
 
Burns put together one of the best games in program history winning 20-of-21 face-offs and picking up 15 ground balls as No. 6/6 Babson remained unbeaten with a 21-6 win over Springfield on Saturday. He was a perfect 12-of-12 in the first half and won his first 14 face-offs of the game while finishing with double-digit ground balls for the fourth time in the last five games.
 
A grad transfer from Bowdoin, Burns has won 106 of his 139 face-offs this spring for a 76.3 percentage, which leads the NEWMAC and ranks sixth in Division III. He has also scooped up a team-high 77 ground balls, and his 9.63 ground balls per game leads the conference and ranks 14th in Division III.
 
The Beavers (8-0), one of seven teams in Division III with undefeated records, will host another unbeaten team in No. 2/2 Bowdoin (6-0) in a clash of titans on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at MacDowell Field.
