SPRINGFIELD, Mass.— Junior
Anthony Taslakov (Sherborn, Mass.) and first-year
Matthias McFarlane (Trumbull, Conn.) captured two events apiece as Babson College won 10 of the 16 events to defeat Springfield College, 181.5-116.5, in the final men's swimming and diving dual meet of the season Saturday afternoon inside the Linkletter Natatorium.
With the victory, the Beavers completed the dual meets with a five-meet winning streak and an 8-1 overall record while Springfield ends up at 3-7.
Babson completes the year with its highest dual-meet winning percentage (.889) since the 1972-73 squad finished 13-1 (.929), and just the fourth time in program history the Beavers have recorded a dual-meet winning percentage above .800, joining the 1972-73, 1989-90 (10-2, .833) and 2019-20 (10-2, .833) squads.
Taslakov touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:47.58 and the 200 backstroke in 1:58.33 and swam the leadoff leg of Babson's winning 400 free relay team. McFarlane was the winner of the 100 breaststroke in 58.12 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 52.73 seconds, and competed on both of Babson's winning 400 medley and 400 free relay teams.
Sophomore
William Iglar (Marietta, Ga.) had a strong meet for the Beavers, winning the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:15.34, and placing second in the 200 free (1:47.87) and 200 IM in 2:00.53. First-year
Evan Hong (Longmeadow, Mass.) was impressive with a victory in the 50 free in 22.03 seconds and legs on both the 400 medley and 400 free relays, as well as a second-place finish in the 100 free (47.82).
It was a good day for sophomore
Thomas Ambelang (Bernardsville, N.J.), who captured the 100 backstroke on a time of 54.64 seconds, swam the backstroke leg on the winning 400 medley relay, and finished fourth in the 200 back (2:06.86). Classmate
Nehemiah Rhee (Paramus, N.J.) finished first in the 200 butterfly in a time of 1:59.93 and second in the 100 fly in 52.82 seconds.
Sophomore
Phillip Spiridonov (Ridgewood, N.J.) collected a pair of runner-up finishes in the 100 back (56.52 seconds) and 200 back (2:02.84), and first-year
Josh Adler (Merrimac, Mass.) took second in the 1000 free (10:32.56) and 500 free (5:16.80). Junior
David Krol (Grafton, Wis.) was runner-up in both diving events, scoring 491.56 points on the 3-meter board and 465.23 points on 1-meter.
The Beavers also got a second-place result in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.55) from sophomore
Nathan Huynh (Naperville, Ga.), who also swam on the winning 400 medley relay. Huynh also took third in the 100 breast in 59.89 seconds.

Babson returns to action on Thursday, February 19, when it travels to Cambridge, Mass., for the opening session of the four-day NEWMAC Championships at MIT.
