WHAT TO KNOW
• The Babson men's and women's swimming & diving teams travel to Cambridge, Mass., for the four-day NEWMAC Championships at MIT beginning on Thursday afternoon.
• The opening session gets underway at 4 p.m. on Thursday with prelims set for 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

2025 NEWMAC CHAMPIONSHIPS FINISH
• The Babson men recorded their third highest point total (704) since 2001 on the way to placing fourth for the second year in a row last February at WPI. The Beavers finished just 13.5 points behind third-place Springfield.
• The Babson women achieved their highest score (416 points) in school history and came in seventh for the sixth league meet in a row dating back to 2020. The Beavers were just 19 points in back of sixth-place Wellesley and 38 points behind fifth-place WPI.
2025 NEWMAC CHAMPIONSHIPS HIGHLIGHTS
• The Babson men put together one of the most successful weekends in two decades by earning four all-conference honors, five NCAA B cuts and setting 10 school records.
• Junior
Anthony Taslakov (200 free, 200 IM, 200 back) and
Pat Anutarasoti '25 (100 breast, 50 butterfly, 100 butterfly) both set three individual records and were part of two more each in the relays, and each achieve a pair of NCAA B cuts.
• Anutarasoti became the first Babson swimmer to be crowned as a NEWMAC champion since 2002 with his victory in the 100 breaststroke, Taslakov earned all-conference honors by coming in second in both the 200 free and 200 back, and junior
David Krol placed second on the 3-meter board to garner the Beavers' first diving medal since 2007.
• The Babson women set school records in four different events, highlighted by sophomore
Tuana Turhan bettering her own mark in the 100 butterfly, on the way to finishing with their highest point total in school history.
• The Beavers also set new school records in both the 200 and 400 free relays and the 400 medley relay.
ABOUT THE BABSON WOMEN
• The Beavers concluded the regular season with a record of 7-4-1 after defeating Springfield 169-120 back on February 7.
• Sophomores
Samantha Gilbert (200 IM, 200 free) and
Julia Netishen (50 free, 200 back) both recorded multiple victories as Babson finished first in 10 of 16 events.
• Turhan (100 butterfly), junior
Sylvie Racicot (100 free), sophomore
Marta Gershanok (200 breaststroke) and first-year
Leila Evans (1000 free) each added a first-place showing in the victory over the Pride.
ABOUT THE BABSON MEN
• The Beavers finished the regular season at 8-1 with their highest dual-meet winning (.889) since the 1972-73 campaign thanks to a 181.5-116.5 victory at Springfield back on February 7.
• Taslakov (200 free, 200 back) and first-year
Matthias McFarlane (100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly) both recorded a pair of victories as the Green and White finished first in eight of 16 events.
• Sophomores
William Iglar (200 breaststroke),
Thomas Ambelang (100 back) and
Nehemiah Rhee (200 butterfly), and first-year
Evan Hong (50 free) each recorded a win and a runner-up finish against the Pride.
NINE RECOGNIZED WITH NEWMAC WEEKLY HONORS
• Following the victories over Springfield on February 7, nine members of the Babson men's and women's swimming & diving team were honored when the league announced its weekly awards.
• McFarlane was tabbed as the NEWMAC Men's Swimmer of the Week and joined Ambelang, Hong and sophomore
Nathan Huynh as the relay team of the week thanks to their first-place finish in the 400 medley relay.
• Gilbert claimed NEWMAC Women's Swimmer of the Week accolades, while the quartet of Netishen, Gershanok, Racicot and first-year
AJ Hallbert took home relay team of the week honors with their first-place showing in the 400 free relay.
MEN'S TOP TIMES
• The Babson men have at least one competitor ranked among the top 10 in 14 different events entering this week's championship, highlighted by Krol ranking second with 11-dive scores on both the 1-meter (465.23) and 3-meter (491.56) diving boards.
• Senior
Zackary Cheung's time of 52.40 ranks second in the 100 IM, Huynh is fourth in both the 50 breast (26.27) and 100 breast (56.55), and Taslakov ranks sixth in the 500 free (4:40.43), seventh in the 200 free (1:40.56) and 10th in the 1000 free (10:06.43).
• McFarlane ranks sixth in both the 50 breast (26.58) and 100 breast (56.63), Ambelang is eighth in the 50 back (24.03) and 10th in the 100 back (51.48), Rhee is eighth in the 200 butterfly (1:53.68) and first-year
Josh Adler (17:17.99) and sophomore
Ilaan Garware (17:24.73) are eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 1650 free.
• Cheung also owns the ninth-best mark in the 200 IM (1:55.24), while Huynh is ninth in the 200 breast (2:06.70).
WOMEN'S TOP TIMES
• The Babson women boast at least one competitor with a top-15 time in eight different events enter the championship.
• Turhan ranks seventh in the 200 butterfly (2:06.72), eighth in the 100 butterfly (57.91) and 13th in the 50 butterfly (26.94), while Gilbert is ninth in the 100 IM (1:03.33) and 15th in the 500 free (5:16.39).
• Netishen ranks 11th in the 50 free (24.51), 13th in the 50 back (27.77) 14th in the 100 free (54.07) and 15th in the 50 butterfly (27.29), while Racicot is 13th in both the 50 free (24.60) and 100 free (53.97).
