BABSON PARK, Mass.—Four Babson College women's swimming & diving student-athletes were honored by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) for their hard work and success in the classroom with Academic All-District recognition on Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Sylvie Racicot (Arlington, Mass.) was named to the Academic All-District Team for the second year in a row, and senior Vangella Randell (Holden, Mass.) and sophomores Hailey Cronan (New Market, Md.) and Samantha Gilbert (Arlington, Va.) were honored for the first time. All four are now eligible for the Academic All-America team, which will be announced later this month.

The four student-athletes were also named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Academic Team back in March.

Since 1952, CSC has honored more than 44,000 outstanding student-athletes across the NCAA. To be eligible, a student-athlete maintain a GPA of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale and must compete at their conference championship meet.

A Business major, Racicot had a strong performance for the Beavers at the NEWMAC Championships. She captured fifth place in the 100-yard freestyle and set a program record with a time of 53.13 seconds, and finished in 10th place in the 50 free with a time of 24.43, which ranks fourth in program history. She swam on several record-setting relays teams, including the runner-up 200-yard and 400-yard free relays that set program records and the fourth-place 400 medley relay team that also set a program standard.

An Entrepreneurship major, Randell had a solid season in distance events for the Beavers. She finished in 17th place in the 1,650 at the NEWMAC Championships as well as 35th place in the 500 free and 36th in the 200 IM. Her career-best time of 18:51.11 in the 1,650 free ranks fourth in program history and her time of 11:19.05 in the 1000 free ranks sixth in the Babson record books.

A Business major, Cronan was a solid performer for the Green and White in both individual and relay events. She placed 14th in the 200-yard freestyle and 18th in the 200-yard breaststroke at the NEWMAC Championships and swam on Babson B teams in all five relays, highlighted by second-place finishes in the B finals in the 200 free, 400 free and 800 free relay races.

A Business major, Gilbert was a strong contributor for the Beavers this season, helping set program records in the 200 medley and 200 and 400 freestyle relay events. She placed 13th in the 200 freestyle and swam on runner-up 200 and 400 free relay teams and top-six relay teams in the 200 and 400 medley and 800 free relay races. Her times in the 200 free (1:57.70) and 500 free (5:16.39) both rank her in the top three in program history.

Babson finished with an 8-5 record in dual meets this winter and placed seventh in the team standings at the NEWMAC Championships for the sixth consecutive year.
