No. 9 Field Hockey Returns Home to Host Smith on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY
• The Beavers own a 27-19-1 lead all-time against the Bears in a series that dates back to 1987.
• Babson has won 11 in a row and 18 of the last 19 games vs. Smith dating back to 2001.
• The Green and White have won 13 of the last 14 games by at least three goals.

LAST MEETING
• Sophomore goalie Madison Tibbals made four saves in the first half for her third straight shutout and fourth overall as No. 6 Babson blanked Smith, 3-0, on October 11, 2025, in Northampton, Mass.
• Alex Michelotti '26 and Ally Antonacci '26 and senior Ashley Braren scored second-half goals for the Beavers, and junior Penny Baroni produced a pair of assists in the win for the Beavers, who finished with a 22-4 advantage in shots on goal, including 16-4 in shots on goal and a 12-2 margin in penalty corners.
• Smith sophomore Iseul Park was strong at the Bears' end of the field, making 13 saves in goal.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 9 Babson (7-4, 3-1 NEWMAC) suffered its first conference loss of the season with a 1-0 setback at MIT Tuesday evening in Cambridge.
• Tibbals made two saves for the Beavers, both in the third quarter, and a fourth-quarter offensive surge fell short against the Engineers. The Green and White finished with a 10-5 advantage in shots and a 4-3 edge in shots on goal along with a 7-5 margin in penalty corners.
• Senior Helen DiGiovanni (7-1-15) and Baroni (6-3-15) give the Beavers a strong 1-2 punch on offense as two of the top eight scorers in the NEWMAC. First-year Kate Schneider (4-0-8) is enjoying a solid rookie campaign and had her first multi-goal performance with two goals against Mount Holyoke. junior Lauren Golden (3-1-7) has a point in three of her last five games, and senior Grace Mullaney (2-2-6) provides offensive and defensive support from the midfield.
• Tibbals (7-4, 1.18 GAA) has needed to make just 25 saves in her 11 starts, ranks second in the NEWMAC in goals against average and is tied for second in the league lead with four shutouts.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
• Smith (7-5, 4-0 NEWMAC) extended its winning streak to four games with a dramatic double-overtime victory at Springfield on Tuesday evening, keeping the Bears with a share of first place in the conference.
• Sophomore Anouk Bosket potted the game-winner in the 72nd minute after first-year Grace Webb evened the score at 1-1 with her first goal midway through the second quarter. First-year Megan O'Connor picked up an assist and Park turned aside nine shots in the win.
• First-year Ari Martinez (8-1-17) has two multi-goal games and ranks in the top five in the NEWMAC in goals. O'Connor (7-2-16) and Bosket (5-6-16) are offensive threats as well as first-year Molly van Brunschot (5-3-13), who has all of her points in the last eight outings.
• Park (7-5, 1.91 GAA) has started all 30 Smith games over the past two seasons. She is fourth in the conference with 63 saves and has posted one shutout.

HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
• Babson is 4-1 at home this fall and 43-2 at MacDowell Field since the beginning of the 2023 season.
• Three of the four wins this season and 28 of the 43 home victories over the past four years have come by way of the shutout.
• The Green and White have outscored their opponents at home this season 22-6, and own a 56-11 scoring advantage at MacDowell Field since the beginning of last season.

STREAK SNAPPERS
• Tuesday's loss at MIT snapped Babson's NEWMAC regular season winning streak at 80 games, dating back to a loss to Mount Holyoke in 2015.
• The outcome was also the first setback in 57 games against any NEWMAC opponent, including the conference tournament, since a 3-2 overtime loss to MIT in the 2019 NEWMAC title game.
• The Green and White were also handed their first loss in the month of October since falling to Montclair State on October 28, 2017, a string of 66 games.

MULTI-GOAL GAMES
• The Beavers have had seven times this season when a player scored at least two goals in a game.
• DiGiovanni scored twice in games against Endicott and Wellesley, Baroni notched two goals against Saint Joseph's (Maine) and three vs. the University of New England, and Golden (Wellesley), Schneider (Mount Holyoke) and first-year Julia Krepelka (WPI) each have one two-goal performance.

WINS AND LOSSES
• The Beavers have outscored their opponents 28-1 in their seven victories with six shutouts.
• The Green and White have been outscored 11-1 in their four losses and blanked three times.
• Babson is 2-3 this season against nationally ranked teams, all of which were top 10 opponents.

BEAVER BITES
• DiGiovanni has a career-high seven goals this season, matching her total of the last two years combined and one shy of her career total entering the season.
• Baroni has scored at least five goals in each of her first three seasons, highlighted by a career-high 11 goals last season.
• Senior Emma Smith leads the team and ranks fourth in the NEWMAC with five assists.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Going back to 2023, the Babson has won its last 57 games when scoring at least two goals.
• The Beavers have won 91 consecutive games when leading at halftime.
• The Green and White has won 37 games in a row going back to 2024 and is 98-2 since 2021 when scoring the first goal of the game.

UP NEXT
• The Beavers will be back on the road on Tuesday with a visit to No. 11 Bowdoin at 2 p.m. in Brunswick, Maine.
