No. 9 Men's Soccer vs. Rhode Island College
Tuesday, October 13 | 3:30 p.m.
Hartwell-Rogers Field | Babson Park, Mass.

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 0-0-1 all-time against Rhode Island College in a series that dates back to 2008.
•    Tuesday's match will be the first between the sides in the regular season.

LAST MEETING
•    After playing to a scoreless draw over 110 minutes, Rhode Island College advanced past the Beavers in penalty kicks, 3-1, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on November 15, 2008, in Babson Park.
•    Peter Crowley '12 finished with three saves for the Beavers, who hit the woodwork twice in the first overtime period and two more times during the penalty kick shootout.
•    Ryan Kelley, Bruno Costa and Josh Silva all converted penalties for the Anchormen, which got three saves from goalkeeper Justin O'Connor during regulation.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    No. 9 Babson (6-2-3) is looking to snap a four-match winless skid after settling for a 1-1 draw at MIT on Saturday afternoon.
•    Sophomore Adam Stetson scored his first career goal in the 11th minute, junior Henry Bacon cleared an Engineers' scoring chance off the goal line in the first half and graduate student Will Devall made two saves for the Beavers, who finished with a 13-11 edge in shots.
•    Senior Alexander Yablonovskiy (2-3-7), sophomore Connor Hanrahan (3-0-6) and senior Will Lloyd (2-1-5) have combined to produce four game-winning goals, senior McKenzy Pierre (2-1-5) is tied third on the team in scoring and graduate student Drew Stephans leads the squad with three assists.
•    Devall is 5-2-3 in eight starts and boasts a 0.92 goals against average and a .775 save percentage to go along with four clean sheets.

SCOUTING THE ANCHORMEN
•    Rhode Island College (5-4-3) has earned a result in four of its last five matches and is coming off a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Keene State on Saturday.
•    Logan Santos tied the game in the 73rd minute and Nathan Capelo notched the go-ahead goal in the 80th minute to go along with an assist for the Anchormen, which got four saves from Elhadji Ndoye while outshooting the Owls 22-7 in a game that featured 38 fouls.
•    Julien Orellana (3-2-8) and Kody Poplaski (3-2-8) lead the team in scoring, Capelo (2-2-6), Alex Ciotti (2-1-5) and Alijah Nunes (2-1-5) are tied for second on the squad in goals, and Donavan Calle leads all players with four assists on the year.
•    Ndoye (5-3-1) owns a 1.72 goals against average and a .736 save percentage to go along with two shutouts in eight starts, while Jake Raymond (0-1-2) has a 1.49 goals against average and a .545 save percentage in three starts this fall.

DOWN TO THE WIRE
•    For just the third time in program history, each of the Beavers' last eight wins, including all six this season, have come by a single goal dating back to last year's NEWMAC Tournament final.
•    Babson also had a streak of eight straight one-goal wins spread across the 1982 and 1983 campaigns as well as the 1985 and 1986 seasons.
•    The last time the Beavers recorded six consecutive wins by one goal in the same season came back in 1989.
•    In addition to its run of one-goal wins, last Wednesday's result against Amherst marked the first time Babson has lost by more than a single goal since October 2024.

ANDERSON REACHES ANOTHER MILESTONE
•    Babson's Jon Anderson '75 became just the ninth head coach in Division III history to coach 800 games on Saturday at MIT.
•    Anderson ranks second among active coaches and 11th in Division III history with 488 wins, and is also one of three coaches in NCAA history with more than 100 draws along with Dave Masur (Montclair State, St. John's), who is the all-time leader with 119, and George Kuntz (Cal Lutheran, UC Irvine, Cal St. Fullerton), who is second with 112.
•    The fifth-longest tenured active coach in NCAA men's soccer, Anderson is 488-211-101 since taking over at Babson in 1986.

BEAVER BITES
•    Lloyd made his 61st consecutive start going back to 2023 on Saturday at MIT while playing in the 80th game of his career.
•    Yablonovskiy has produced 22 goals and 11 assists for 55 points in 71 career games and is tied for 20th in program history in goals and 22nd in points.
•    Stetson became the eighth different player to score a goal and 11th player to record a point this fall for the Beavers with his goal on Saturday.
•    Lloyd, Stetson, Bacon and sophomore Nicholas Adams are Babson's only four players to start all 11 matches this season.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    Eight of Babson's 13 goals this season have been scored in the second half, which includes scoring five times in the 74th minute or later.
•    The Beavers are 3-1-1 this fall at home and 34-12-11 on Hartwell-Rogers Field versus non-conference foes since 2016.
•    The Green and White is 5-0-3 on the season when holding its opponents to one goal or fewer.
•    Babson is 4-0 this season and 31-1-4 over the last three years when scoring the first goal of the match.
