BABSON PARK, Mass.— Junior
David Krol (Grafton, Wis.) won a pair of events and Babson College won nine of the 13 events to defeat Bridgewater State University, 163-62, in the final home men's swimming and diving meet of the season Saturday afternoon inside the Morse Pool.
With the victory, the Beavers won their fourth dual meet of the season to improve their record to 7-1 while the Bears drop to 2-4 on the season.
Krol was an easy winner in both diving events, scoring 312.75 points on the 1-meter board and 319.20 points on 3-meter.
Sophomore
Thomas Ambelang (Bernardsville, N.J.) had a strong meet for the Beavers, finishing first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.59 and taking second in the 50 free in 22.24 seconds. He also swam the lead-off leg of the winning 200 medley relay, and was followed by sophomore
Nathan Huynh (Naperville, Ga.), and seniors
Zackary Cheung (Monterey Park, Calif.) and
Hawken Hammen (East Lyme, Conn.), who finished with a winning time of 1:38.52.
Sophomores
Tommy Hannenian (Sacramento, Calif.) and
William Iglar (Marietta, Ga.) also had a first and second place finish each, as Hannenian won the 200 free in 48:17 and came in second in the 500 free in 5:09.54, and Iglar captured the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.98 and finished runner-up in the 200 back in 2:05.39.
Junior
Anthony Taslakov (Sherborn, Mass.) touched the wall first in the 1000 free in 10:06.43 and placed third in the 200 fly in 2:11:34; first-year
Evan Hong (Longmeadow, Mass.) won the 500 free in 5:07.93 and took third in the 50 free in 22.31 seconds; and classmate
Josh Adler (Merrimac, Mass.) touched the wall first in the 200 fly in 2:06.68 and finished third in the 200 free in 1:51.02.
Second-place finishes were turned in by sophomore
Dom Crisafulli (Natick, Mass.) in the 1000 free in 11:21.86, first-year
Matthias McFarlane (Trumbull, Conn.) in the 200 IM in 2:02.61, sophomore
Liam Maloney (Tampa, Fla.) in the 200 fly in 2:07.03, Cheung in the 100 free in 49.22, and Huynh in the 200 breast in 2:15.74.
The Beavers wound up the meet with a runner-up finish in the 200 free relay as Hammen, Cheung, Taslakov and Hong clocked in at 1:29.42.
Babson will compete in its final dual meet of the season on February 7 at Springfield at 11 a.m.
