Women's Soccer Edges Coast Guard in Dramatic Fashion, 2-1

Beavers Score Twice Over Final 5:01 to Stay Unbeaten

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College scored twice over the final 5:01 of the match to defeat the visiting Coast Guard Academy, 2-1, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.

Babson remained unbeaten and improved to 3-0-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play with the come-from-behind victory. Coast Guard, which is winless in its last five outings, drops to 1-6-2 overall and 0-2 in the NEWMAC.

Sophomore Josie Lee (Duxbury, Mass.) finished with a goal and an assist and first-year Izzy Lee (Phoenix, Ariz.) scored the go-ahead marker with 1:39 remaining for the Beavers. Junior Janiya Ocampo (Pawtucket, R.I) recorded her first collegiate point with an assist, while junior goalkeeper Callahan Cottone (Medway, Mass.) stopped two shots in the win.

Sophomore Mia Carabajal-Hartog (Los Lunas, N.M.) produced the first goal of her career, while classmate Bella Brittain (Woodbridge, Va.) registered an assist for the Bears. Junior goalkeeper Julia Little (Fort Meade, Md.) finished with three saves in the loss.

Following 80 minutes without a goal, the sides combined to score three times over the final 9:47 of the match. Carabajal-Hartog broke the scoreless deadlock in the 81st minute when she headed Brittain's corner kick back inside the right points to give Coast Guard a 1-0 advantage.

The Green and White responded though, thanks to Josie Lee's equalizer in the 85th minute. Ocampo won a ball in the midfield and flicked it towards the box where Lee ran past a defender and touched it past the hard-charging Little and into the open het for her third goal of the season.

Babson took the lead for good in the 89th minute thanks to Izzy Lee's second game-winning goal of the season. Junior Lillian McAughan's (Bellevue, Wash.) shot was tipped wide leading to a corner kick and Izzy Lee headed Josie Lee's service through traffic and back inside the left post past the outstretched hands of Little to make it 2-1.

The Beavers outshot the Bears 17-4 and finished the match with an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.

Babson returns to action on Sunday when it travels to Johnson & Wales to resume a game that was halted after 17 minutes back on August 29 at 1 p.m. Coast Guard hosts Eastern Connecticut State on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
