Women's Soccer Erases Early Deficit in 2-2 Draw with Hamilton

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College scored twice in less than 15 minutes around halftime and erased an early two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw with visiting Hamilton College in non-conference women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.

Babson remains unbeaten at 2-0-4 on the year, while Hamilton is now 2-3-2 overall.

Junior Ally Clarkson (Reading, Mass.) and sophomore Josie Lee (Duxbury, Mass.) each provided a goal and first-years Izzy Lee (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Autumn Simon (Sharon, Mass.) both contributed an assist for the Beavers. Junior Callahan Cottone (Medway, Mass.) stopped five shots in the first half, while senior goalkeeper Cleo Grignard (Red Bank, N.J.) made a pair of second-half saves.

Sophomores Hailey Cramer (West Granby, Conn.) and Isabel Harvey (Rye, N.Y.) both recorded a goal, while juniors Maddie Buck (Kentfield, Calif.) and Sarah Flood (Toronto, Ontario) and first-year Lila Sullivan (Charlestown, Mass.)chipped in with assists for the Continentals. Junior Olivia Connolly (Washington, D.C.) finished with two saves in her second start of the season.

Cramer opened the scoring just over five minutes into the match with a powerful header off a cross by Buck from along the left sideline for her first goal of the year. Harvey, who narrowly missed an opportunity to open the scoring in the fourth minute, gave Hamilton a 2-0 lead with her second marker of the season in the 10th minute.

Harvey ran onto a pass from Flood down the right flank and tucked a shot inside the far post from 10 yards.

Despite getting outshot 12-4 in the opening half, the Green and White was able to cut its deficit in half on Clarkson's first career goal in the 38th minute. Simon was the first to a loose ball at the top of the box and she found Clarkson, who drilled a shot past Connolly and inside the left post.

The Beavers found the equalizer less than seven minutes into the second half when Josie Lee ran onto a thru ball by Izzy Lee and took one touch before drilling a shot past Connolly from the left side of the box for her second goal of the season. The score came moments after Connolly tipped sophomore Lillian McAughan's (Bellevue, Wash.) blast from the right wing off the crossbar and then reacted quickly to deny the rebound attempt by Josie Lee from point-blank range.

Junior Priscilla-Rose Men-Martin (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.) nearly gave Babson the lead only to see her 35-yard strike sail just over the crossbar in the 67th minute. Grignard followed with her best save of the game when she denied a blast by Continentals' senior Taryn Gillis (Newburyport, Mass.) at the left post following a free kick in the 84th minute.

The Beavers, who attempted five of the six corner kicks on the day, were outshot 16-10 including 9-4 on target.

Both teams return to action next Saturday as Babson hosts Coast Guard at 1 p.m., while Hamilton faces Bowdoin at 11 a.m.
