Women’s Soccer Hosts No. 17 Rowan in Non-Conference Challenge on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

• Babson and Rowan will meet for just the third time on Saturday in a series that began in 2023.
• The Profs took the first match-up in Babson Park, 2-0, before winning last year's contest, 3-0, in Glassboro, N.J.

LAST MEETING
• Senior Julianna Giordano finished with a goal and an assist to help Rowan defeat visiting Babson, 3-0, on September 7, 2024, at the Rowan Soccer & Lacrosse Complex.
• Nora Ryan finished with five saves in goal in the setback for the Beavers, who were outshot 10-4 in the match.
• Mackenzie Clement '25 and sophomore Angela Oliveto each had a goal and Calista Burke '25 made three saves to record the 25th clean sheet of her career for the Profs. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (0-0-2) will be back on the pitch for the first time since playing to a 1-1 draw against Union last Saturday in Schenectady, N.Y.
• The Beavers got an early goal from sophomore Josie Lee with an assist from first-year Autumn Simon. Junior goalkeeper Callahan Cottone stopped three shots for the Beavers, who finished with a 16-11 edge in shots and a 14-5 advantage in corner kicks.
• Lee (1-0-2) is hoping to build on her standout rookie season, when she finished with three goals and two assists for eight points. Juniors Priscilla-Rose Men-Martin and Claudia Baiter have backboned the midfield and defense in the early going, both playing all 180 minutes of the first two games.
• Cottone has registered a 0.67 goals against average and an 0.833 save percentage with five saves in two starts between the pipes.

SCOUTING THE PROFS
• No. 17 Rowan (4-0-0) is coming off a 2-1 victory over No. 14 Swarthmore on Wednesday in Glassboro.
• Senior Olivia Giordano broke a 1-1 tie in the 85th minute to lift the Profs, with an assist from junior Sara Wiedeman. Senior Ava Morales gave Rowan an early lead in the third minute, heading in a corner kick from classmate Lianna SanFelice. First-year Leah Edinger earned the win in goal with a three-save effort.
• Olivia Giordano (4-2-10) has a goal in each of the four games for the Profs, and Weideman (3-2-8) has a point in three games, including a two-goal, one-assist outing against Albright. Junior Bella Moore (1-1-3) produced all of her points in a win over St. Mary's (Md.).
• Edinger has a stingy 0.29 GAA with an .857 save percentage and six saves in her first four career starts, including a pair of shutouts.

COMFORTS OF HOME
• The Green and White are 6-2-2 on Hartwell-Rogers Field since the beginning of last season.
• Babson is 27-11-6 at home going back to the start of the 2021 campaign.

GARDEN STATE SEEDS
• Babson is 1-3-0 all-time against teams from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), falling to Rowan twice and splitting a pair of games vs. Rutgers-Newark (2002, 2015). The Green and White are also 0-1-0 against Stevens, losing in double overtime in 2017.
• The Beavers have four players from the Garden State, including seniors Cleo Grignard (Red Bank) and Izzy DeMatos (Holmdel) and juniors Jadyn Mapura (East Hanover) and Olga Metelkine (Marlboro).

BEAVER BITES
• Babson opened the season with back-to-back draws for the first time in the 45-year history of the program.
• The last eight draws for the Beavers going back to 2023 have been either 0-0 or 1-1 final scores.
• The 14 corner kicks for the Green and White in the draw at Union are its most since earning 14 in a 1-0 win over Smith on October 22, 2022.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 7-0-3 since last fall and are 15-2-5 over the last three seasons when scoring the first goal of the game.
• The Green and White are 23-0-4 over the past four seasons when leading at halftime.
• Babson is 6-2-7 since last year and is 28-4-10 over the past four seasons when holding the opponent to one goal or less.

UP NEXT
• The Beavers, who are in a string of four home games in five outings, will host Endicott on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
