BABSON PARK, Mass.—After capturing its fourth New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament championship in the last five seasons and advancing to the Division III NCAA Tournament semifinals last fall, the fifth-ranked Babson College men's soccer team was picked to capture the 2025 championship when the conference released its preseason coaches' poll on Thursday.
Babson received seven of the nine first-place votes and 62 points to finish atop the poll, while just two points separated the next three teams: Coast Guard (47), MIT (46) and defending tournament runner-up Salve Regina (45). MIT and fifth-place WPI (38) each received one first-place vote in the polling.
Led by 40th-year head coach
Jon Anderson, the Beavers return four starters and 21 veterans from last year's squad that finished 17-1-7 overall and 7-0-1 in NEWMAC play. The Beavers posted NCAA tournament victories over St. John Fisher, Wesleyan and Trinity (Texas) to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since 1991 before falling to Middlebury on penalty kicks.
The Beavers open the 2025 campaign with three straight home games on Hartwell-Rogers Field, beginning with Occidental (Calif.) on August 29 and UMass Boston on August 30. The NEWMAC debut comes in game 10 at Springfield on September 27.
