Six from Women's Tennis Earn ITA All-America Scholar Accolades

BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College women's tennis program had six student-athletes recognized for their success in the classroom when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2024-25 All-America Scholar award winners late last week. 

Junior Kamila Stasiowska (Burlington, Conn.) was honored for the third year in a row, senior Olivia Soffer (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and sophomore Dana Kamal (Cairo, Egypt) garnered ITA All-America Scholar laurels for the second consecutive season, and the trio of junior Grace Starcher (Morristown, N.J.), sophomore Riya Matharoo (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) and first-year Mia Sorrentino (Miami, Fla.) were each named to the team for the first time. The Beavers' honorees were among 1,269 Division III student-athletes to finished the 2024-25 academic year with a grade-point average of 3.50 or better.

In addition to the individual awards, head coach Emma Hall's squad was one of 165 Division III program's to earn ITA All-Academic Team distinction. Babson concluded the year with a 3.57 team GPA. All-Academic team honorees must have a GPA of 3.20 or above. 

Soffer, who went 27-5 in singles and 29-2 in doubles, garnered her fourth consecutive New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Player of the Year honor, was selected as ITA's Northeast Region and Division III Senior Player of the Year, and capped her career by winning  a second straight NCAA doubles championship alongside junior Matia Cristiani (San Salvador, El Salvador) back in May. Stasiowska was 9-8 in singles and 5-3 in doubles, while Kamal finished 5-4 in singles and added eight victories in doubles for the Green and White. 

Matharoo, who was in her first season at Babson after transferring from UT-Dallas, went 9-3 in singles and 7-4 in doubles. Starcher finished 14-4 in singles and 8-2 in doubles, while Sorrentino enjoyed a terrific rookie campaign going 3-2 in singles and 11-5 in doubles action. 

Babson, which advanced to it fourth straight NEWMAC Tournament final, reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament and wrapped up the season with an overall record of 15-7.
