WHAT'S AT STAKE

•    Following dominant wins in Friday's first round, No. 14 Babson and No. 13 Johns Hopkins meet on Saturday with a spot in Sunday's regional final on the line. 
 •    The Beavers are looking to advance to the third round for the second time in three years, while the Blue Jays are looking to reach the regional final for the 16th time in their last 17 tournament appearances and third season in a row.

SERIES HISTORY
•    Babson and Johns Hopkins will meet for the first time on Saturday afternoon. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
NCAA Tournament Appearance: 4th
Best NCAA Finish: 2023 regional final 

•    No. 14 Babson (15-6) has won eight of its last 11 matches and cruised past UMass Boston 4-0 in its first round match on Friday afternoon. 
•    Senior Olivia Soffer, junior Matia Cristiani and first-year Alessandra Cristiani all recorded victories in both singles and doubles for the Beavers, who have now won their opening match in all four NCAA Tournament appearances. 
•    Fourth-ranked Olivia Soffer is 25-4 overall and 15-1 this spring at number one singles, eighth-ranked Matia Cristiani is 25-1 in all matches and 15-0 at number two, Alessandra Cristiani (20-7) enters Saturday's match with seven consecutive wins, and sophomore Chaniel Soffer is 17-8 overall and 11-6 in dual matches. 
•    Olivia Soffer and Matia Cristiani, who are ranked fourth in Division III, are 21-2 overall and 14-1 at number one doubles, Alessandra Cristiani and Chaniel Soffer have gone 10-8 at number two, and the pairing of sophomore Dana Kamal and first-year Mia Sorrentino are 4-3 at number three doubles. 

SCOUTING THE BLUE JAYS
NCAA Tournament Appearance: 18th
Best NCAA Finish: National semifinalist (2014)

•    No. 13 Johns Hopkins (13-7) has won its last six matches against Division III foes after overwhelming Lesley, 4-0, in Friday's first round. 
•    Jay Xiao and Lia Melvin combined for a 6-0 win at number one doubles and both cruised to straight-set victories in singles for the Blue Jays, who have now been victorious in the opening match of their last 18 NCAA Tournament appearances. 
•    Sahana Sanjeev is 21-7 overall and 6-1 at number three singles, Sydney Langer (12-10) is 6-0 at number two, Lia Melvin (11-7) and Ava Li (11-5) are tied for third on the team in wins, and Sahana Madala is a perfect 10-0 with four wins at number six singles. 
•    Xiao and Melvin are 14-6 this spring and have won three straight matches at number one doubles, 16th-ranked Li and Kamila Wong have gone 16-5 in all matches and Langer and Madala are 12-5 overall and 10-0 at number three doubles. 

BEAVERS IN THE POSTSEASON
•    All four of Babson's NCAA Tournament appearances as a team have come over the last 11 seasons.
•    The Green and White is 2-0 all-time in first round matches with wins over Colby-Sawyer (5-0) in 2015 and SUNY New Paltz (5-0) in 2021. 
•    The Beavers, who received a first round bye and defeated Endicott 5-0 in the second round in 2023, have won their opening match in each of their three previous NCAA Tournament appearances. 

LITTLE IN COMMON
•    Although both Babson and Johns Hopkins have played a number of ranked opponents this season, they share only one common opponent in 20th-ranked Case Western Reserve. 
•    The Beavers defeated the Spartans 5-2 on April 12 in Atlanta, while the Blue Jays recorded a 5-2 victory over CWRU on March 23 in Newport News, Va. 

FOUR EARN ALL-NEWMAC HONORS
•    Olivia Soffer was selected as the NEWMAC Player of the Year for the fourth consecutive season, and was joined in earning all-league honors by Matia Cristiani, Chaniel Soffer and Alessandra Cristiani
•    Olivia and Matia both collected all-league first-team accolades in both singles and doubles for the third year in a row, while Chaniel and Alessandra both garnered all-conference second-team singles honors for the first time in their respective careers. 

TOURNAMENT TESTED
•    Olivia Soffer is a perfect 7-0 at number one singles and 13-3 overall in both team and individual postseason singles matches over the last three seasons, while Matia Cristiani has gone 9-0 at number two singles and 13-2 in all NCAA and conference singles matches. 
•    The reigning NCAA Division III doubles champions, Soffer and Cristiani are 15-1 in the postseason with their only loss coming in the 2023 NCAA doubles final. 
•    Junior Kamila Stasiowska recorded wins in both singles and doubles matches in the Beavers' second round triumph over Endicott as a rookie back in 2023.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
•    The Beavers are 15-2 this season when winning the doubles point but 0-4 when trailing entering singles. 
•    Babson is 8-0 this spring versus opponents outside the ITA top-40 and 7-6 against nationally-ranked foes. 
•    Matia Cristiani has won 20 consecutive singles matches, Olivia Soffer boasts a 15-match winning streak in singles, and junior Grace Starcher has recorded five straight singles victories.
•    The Green and White is 12-1 this spring when winning at number three doubles, 10-0 when it wins at number five singles and 11-0 when recording a victory at number six singles. 

UP NEXT
•    The winner of Saturday's match will face either No. 3 Middlebury or SUNY New Paltz in Sunday's regional final.
