MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—Three members on the Babson College women's tennis team were honored for their work in the classroom when they were named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference team on Friday.
Junior
Kamila Stasiowska (Burlington, Conn.) was named to the NEWMAC All-Academic team for the second year in a row, and sophomores
Dana Kamal (Cairo, Egypt) and
Riya Matharoo (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) earned their first Academic All-Conference awards.
Academic all-conference honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale after the 2024 fall semester, achieved second-year academic status, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
Stasiowska, a Business major, registered an 8-7 record in singles and a 5-3 mark in doubles this season. She went 4-1 against conference foes in singles, playing mostly at number five but seeing action in four of the six flights, and she was 4-0 against NEWMAC opponents in doubles, winning twice at both number one and number three. A three-year veteran and a 2023 All-NEWMAC selection at number three singles, she has a career record of 30-23 in singles and 27-17 in doubles.
Kamal, a Finance and Entrepreneurship major, posted a 5-4 record in singles and an 8-11 mark in doubles, including 7-6 in dual matches. She won all three of her singles matches against NEWMAC opponents, once at number five and twice at number six. She was 3-1 against conference foes in doubles, playing at all three flights. A two-year veteran for the Beavers, she has a career record of 9-4 in singles and 16-15 mark in doubles.
Matharoo, a Business major, finished with a 9-3 record in singles and a 7-4 mark in doubles this year. She was 5-0 in dual matches, including 4-0 against conference opponents, going 1-0 at number two and 2-0 at both numbers five and six. She was 2-0 in doubles in dual matches, winning once each at number two and three. She is a transfer from the University of Texas at Dallas.
No. 14 Babson earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Championships, advanced to the second round and finished with a 15-7 overall record.
