Five from Softball Earn NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Accolades

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—The list of post-season award continue to roll in for Babson College softball as five student-athletes were honored for their work in the classroom when they were named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference team on Thursday.

Graduate student Moira O'Reilly (Columbus, Ohio) is a four-time recipient of NEWMAC All-Academic honors, juniors Sophia Pak (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and Andi Gabler (Lighthouse Point, Fla.) were recognized for the second year in a row, and graduate student Cameron Whiteford (Centerville, Md.) and sophomore Mia Vittozzi (North Reading, Mass.) were honored for the first time.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale after the 2024 fall semester, achieved second-year academic status, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire semester.

A Business Analytics major, O'Reilly is a four-time NEWMAC Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-Region selection. The lefthander finished the season with a 9-6 record along with a 1.76 earned run average and 124 strikeouts in 111.1 innings pitched. She was in the top five in the NEWMAC in ERA, strikeouts, strikeouts per seven innings (7.8), hits per seven innings (5.41), and WHIP (1.10). She finished her career with a 71-29 record to go along with a 1.71 ERA and 900 strikeouts 675.2 innings pitched, and ranks first in school history in wins, strikeouts, innings pitched, appearances (115), starts (103), shutouts (24) and strikeouts per seven innings (9.32), and is second in both ERA and hits allowed per seven innings (4.94).

An Accounting major, Pak enjoyed a breakout season for the Beavers and earned All-Region and All-NEWMAC accolades. She led the conference with a career-best .481 batting average with three doubles, two triples, a team-high 24 RBI and 22 runs scored in 41 starts in center field. She tied the single-season program record with 63 hits, ranked 32nd in Division III in batting average and was third in the region with a .531 on-base percentage. She raised her career average to .347 this spring, produced multiple hits in 18 contests and finished the season with a 15-game hitting streak.

A Business major and transfer from the University of Rhode Island, Whiteford had a very successful spring in her only season with the Green and White, earning All-NEWMAC and All-Region honors. She posted a 13-7 record with a 1.83 earned run average, five shutouts and 126 strikeouts in 126.1 innings in the circle. She recorded a pair of no-hitters, ranked second in the NEWMAC in shutouts and hits allowed per seven innings (5.15), recorded double-digit strikeouts in 10 starts and held opposing hitters to a .197 average on the year.

A Finance major, Gabler saw action in two games, registering a walk and a run scored. She has appeared in nine games in her career as both an infielder and a pitcher. A Finance major, Vittozzi did not appear in any games this season.

Babson advanced to the NEWMAC Tournament championship game for the second consecutive season and finished with a record of 26-15.
