MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—Five Babson College women's track & field student-athletes were recognized for their success in the classroom when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its Academic All-Conference squad on Tuesday.
Junior
Ashna Krishnamurthy (Saratoga, Calif.) was honored for the second consecutive season while senior
Angela Hagstrom (Portsmouth, N.H.) and sophomores
Colleen Corman (Quaker Hill, Conn.),
Taijah Harvey (Concord, Mass.) and
Maddie Stoltz (Somers, Conn.) were recognized for the first time.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale after the 2024 fall semester, achieved second-year academic status, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire semester.
Krishnamurthy, a Business Analytics major, has competed in 15 meets in her first two seasons at Babson but did not appear in any meets this spring. She placed third in the long jump at the 2024 NEWMAC Championships with a season-best leap of 16-feet, 8.75-inches, and finished fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 35-feet, 8.75 inches. She placed fifth with a new school record in the long jump (17-feet, 2.75-inches) and seventh in the triple jump (34-feet, 9.5-inches) at the 2023 NEWMAC meet.
Hagstrom, a Sport Management major, competes in six events this spring for the Beavers. She placed 13th in the 400 meters at the year's NEWMAC Championships in a time of 1:01.80 and took 18th place in the 200 meters in 27.28 seconds. She also ran on Babson's 4x100-meter relay team that placed fourth at the NEWMAC meet and the 4x400-meter relay team that placed eighth. Hagstrom owns the program record of 1:00.57 in the 400 meters set back in 2022, and her times of 26.32 in the 200 meters in 2023 and 1:05.12 in the 400-meter hurdles in 2024 rank fourth-best in program history.
Corman, a Business major, competed in eight meeting this spring for the Beavers, specializing in the 400-meter hurdles. She came in third place in the 400 hurdles at the NEWMAC Championships with a time of 1:07.10, and ran on Babson's 4x400-meter relay team that took eighth place in 4:12.25. She captured the NEWMAC 400-hurdles title in 2024 in a time of 107.65 and was named conference rookie of the year.
Harvey, a Business major, competed in five meets for the Beavers this spring, all in the 1500 meters. She came in 15th place at the NEWMAC Championships in a personal-best time of 5:23.23. She competed in the long jump in five meets in 2024, and placed 16th at the NEWMAC meet with a mark of14-feet, 3-inches, her second-best mark behind the 14-feet, 9.75-inches at the Tufts Snowflake Classic in March.
Stoltz, a Business major, competed in four meets for the Beavers in 2024, with multiple events in all meets. She finished seventh in the heptathlon at the NEWMAC Championships with 2,528 points, including a third-place in the heptathlon javelin with a mark of 81-feet, 6-inches. She had a career-best mark of 89-feet, 9-inches in the javelin at the MIT Sean Collier Invitational on April 19 and a career-best time of 18.56 seconds in the 100-hurdles at the Connecticut College Silfen Invitational on April 11.
The Beavers finished in eighth place at the NEWMAC Championships with 46 points, the third-most in program history.
