Three from Softball Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Three members of the Babson College softball program were honored for their accomplishments in the classroom when the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its Academic All-District teams on Tuesday afternoon.

Graduate student Moira O'Reilly (Columbus, Ohio) represents the Green and White on the Academic All-District I Team for the third straight year, while graduate student Cameron Whiteford (Centerville, Md.) and junior Sophia Pak (New Rochelle, N.Y.) made their first appearance on the Academic All-District Team. The three Beavers are now eligible for the Academic All-America teams, which will be announced next month.

Since 1952, CSC has honored more than 40,000 outstanding student-athletes across the NCAA. A Business major and transfer from the University of Rhode Island, Whiteford had a very successful spring in her only season with the Green and White, earning All-NEWMAC and All-Region honors. She posted a 13-7 record with a 1.83 earned run average, five shutouts and 126 strikeouts in 126.1 innings in the circle. She recorded a pair of no-hitters, ranked second in the NEWMAC in shutouts and hits allowed per seven innings (5.15), recorded double-digit strikeouts in 10 starts and held opposing hitters to a .197 average on the year.

An Accounting major, Pak enjoyed a breakout season for the Beavers and earned All-Region and All-NEWMAC accolades. She led the conference with a career-best .481 batting average with three doubles, two triples, a team-high 24 RBI and 22 runs scored in 41 starts in center field. She tied the single-season program record with 63 hits, ranked 32nd in Division III in batting average and was third in the region with a .531 on-base percentage. She raised her career average to .347 this spring, produced multiple hits in 18 contests and finished the season with a 15-game hitting streak.
