Four from Softball Earn NFCA Region II Recognition

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Four members of the Babson College softball program were honored when the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its Division III all-region teams on Friday afternoon. 

Graduate student Moira O'Reilly (Columbus, Ohio) and junior Sophia Pak (New Rochelle, N.Y.) were both named to the NFCA Region II first team, while graduate student Cameron Whiteford (Centerville, Md.) and senior Sara Moore (Kennett Square, Pa.) garnered second-team accolades. 

O'Reilly, who was tabbed as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Pitcher of the Year for the fourth consecutive season earlier this week, became the only player in program history to earn all-region first-team honors four years in a row after going 9-6 with a 1.76 earned run average and 124 strikeouts in 111.1 innings pitched. She ranked sixth in Region II in strikeouts per seven innings (7.8), seventh in in hits per seven innings (5.41), eighth in ERA and ninth in both strikeouts and WHIP (1.10). 

The most decorated pitcher in Babson history, O'Reilly boasts a career record of 71-29 to go along with a 1.71 ERA and 900 strikeouts 675.2 innings pitched. She ranks first in school history in wins, strikeouts, innings pitched, appearances (115), starts (103), shutouts (24) and strikeouts per seven innings (9.32), and is second in both ERA and hits allowed per seven innings (4.94). 

Pak put together a breakout campaign on the way to earning her first all-region honor batting a career-best 481 with three doubles, two triples, a team-high 24 RBI and 22 runs scored in 41 starts in center field. She tied the single-season program record with 63 hits, ranked second in Region II and 32nd in Division III in batting average and was third in the region with a .531 on-base percentage. 

Pak, who raised her career average to .347 this spring, produced multiple hits in 18 contests and finished the season with a 15-game hitting streak. 

Moore received NFCA Region II honors for the third time in her career after batting .425 with three doubles, two triples, 18 RBI and team highs of 32 stolen bases and 34 runs scored. She led the Beavers with 20 multi-hit games, ranked fifth in the region with 62 hits and was fourth in the region in stolen bases, which matched her own single-season program record set back in 2023. 

Moore, who ended the season with a 16-game hitting streak, started all 176 games in her career and batted .388 with 25 doubles, 68 RBI, 102 stolen bases and 130 runs scored. She is the program's all-time leader with 102 stolen bases. ranks second in school history with 224 hits, fourth in runs scored (130), fifth in batting average and total bases (267) and sixth in on-base percentage (.441). 

A transfer from the University of Rhode Island, Whiteford put together a terrific season going 12-7 with a 1.83 earned run average, five shutouts and 126 strikeouts in 126.1 innings in the circle to earn her first all-region honor. She recorded a pair of no-hitters, tied for third in Region II in shutouts, was fifth in hits allowed per seven innings (5.15), sixth in WHIP (1.04), seventh in strikeouts and 11th in ERA. 

Whiteford recorded double-digit strikeouts in 10 starts and held opposing hitters to a .197 average on the year. 

Babson finished with a record of 26-15 after reaching the NEWMAC Tournament final for the second consecutive season.
