No. 20 Men's Lacrosse Visits Emerson for NEWMAC Encounter on Friday Evening

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 11-0 all-time against Emerson in a series that dates back to 2014.
• All 10 of the regular season meetings between the teams have been decided by at least seven goals. 

 LAST MEETING
Jared Rainville M'24 scored six goals and added an assist while James Turco M'24 and Grey Sunderland '24 combined to win 20-of-22 face-offs as No. 14 USILA/No. 9 USA Lacrosse Babson rolled past Emerson, 15-6, on April 6, 2024, at MacDowell Field.
• Junior Bennett Smith produced five points for the Beavers with four goals and an assist while graduate student Topher Bower collected five assists. Christian Brofft '24 and sophomore Luke Wang scored twice, and senior goalie Alex Fascilla won his ninth straight decision with 11 saves in the victory.
• Senior Jack Burns scored two goals for the Lions and Jack O'Rourke M'24, Nicholas Fulgione '24, senior Alex Menedez and sophomore Zachary Stern-Hayes notched one each. Malcolm McGrath M'24 registered an impressive 17 saves and five ground balls but turned the ball over six times.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 20 USILA Babson (8-3, 2-1 NEWMAC) has won four of its last five games after Tuesday's 19-6 non-conference victory over UMass Boston at MacDowell Field.
• Sophomores Andrew Berardi (3g), Camden Matthews (2g, 1a), and Sam Sisk (1g, 2a) all registered three points and grad student Justin Greene, senior Emmett Martin and sophomore Anthony Stillwell all tallied two goals each for the Beavers. Junior Will Reading won 15-of-19 face-offs, Reading and graduate student Sammy Kalishman scooped up five ground balls apiece, and senior Alex Fascilla made 11 saves in 46 minutes to secure the win in goal.
• Sophomore Seamus Rooney (19-16-35) has five goals in his last three games and leads the team in scoring, classmate Camden Matthews (26-5-31) tops the team in goals, and Smith (12-10-22) has a team-high five man-up goals. Sisk (11-9-20), Greene (15-3-18) and Stillwell (15-2-17) give Babson a balanced attack and Bower (4-12-16) is second on the team in assists.
• Graduate Student Tripp Clark (15 CTs, 40 GBs) and senior Brendan Maher (11 CTs, 21 GBs) anchor a defense that allows just 9.0 goals per game. Fascilla (7-3, 8.76 GAA, .580 sv. pct) leads the NEWMAC in save percentage and ranks second in goals against average.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
• Emerson (2-8, 0-3 NEWMAC) dropped its fourth game in a row with Saturday's 11-10 overtime loss at Salve Regina.
• Burns notched four goals and an assist, senior Benson Offit scored three times, and Menendez contributed three assists in the loss. Sophomore Quinn Gardiner won 11-of-20 face-offs, junior John Marcone collected five ground balls, and junior Charlie van Beuren caused three turnovers for the Lions, who led 10-9 with five minutes remaining in regulation. Senior Elijah Turbow made 11 saves in the loss.
• Burns (28-10-38), who is in the top six in the NEWMAC in goals and points, and Offit (23-2-25) are a solid 1-2 punch on offense for the Lions, who have been outscored 119-88. Junior John Marcone (34) and Gardiner (31) lead the team in ground balls, and Marcone and sophomore Owen Rosen each have 15 caused turnovers on defense.
• Turbow (12.05 GAA, .534 sv. pct) has started all 10 games for the Lions and ranks second in the NEWMAC in saves per game (11.9).

BABSON VS. THE NEWMAC
• The Beavers have won 19 of their last 20 games against conference opponents dating back to the beginning of the 2023 season.
• The Green and White have captured back-to-back NEWMAC regular season and tournament titles.
• Babson was picked to finish first in this year's NEWMAC preseason coaches' poll while Emerson was voted eighth.

X MARKS THE SPOT
• The Green and White are 38-21 on faceoffs (.644) over the last two games.
• Babson is 6-0 this season and 21-1 over the past two seasons when winning at least 50 percent of the face-offs.
• Reading (106-195, .544) has won 40 of his last 53 face-off attempts against conference opponents (.755), and first-year Beck Trafton (31-61, .508) has captured 22-of-37 (.595) over his last five outings.

BUSY BEAVERS
• Matthews, who has 12 of his goals in three conference games, has multi-goal performances in his last two outings and nine of 11 games this spring.
• Rooney has at least two points in seven games this season and at least four points in five of the 11 contests.
• Sisk has nine goals and nine assists for 18 points in his last five games after recording just two goals in his first 10 career outings.
• Smith has a point in 17 consecutive appearances dating back to last year.
• Greene has 14 of his 18 points (12g, 2a) in his last five outings.

CLIMBING THE CHARTS
• Fascilla has moved into the Babson program's top-10 career lists, ranking seventh with 17 victories and eighth with 343 saves.
• Maher is sixth all-time with 66 caused turnovers, and graduate student Sammy Kalishman is 13th on Babson's career list with 157 ground balls.
• Bower sits in 10th place on Babson career scoring list with 147 points (61 goals, 86 assists), and he is third on the all-time assist list.
• Smith (45g, 70a, 115pts) has moved up to sixth place on the program's career assists list.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Babson is 6-0 this season and 20-3 over the past two seasons when recording at least eight caused turnovers.
• The Beavers are 6-1 this season and 20-1 since the beginning of last year when grabbing more ground balls than their opponents.
• The Green and White are 17-0 over the past three seasons when holding the opponents to eight goals or less.
• Babson is 8-0 this season when reaching double digits in scoring and 7-0 when scoring at least 14 goals.
• The Beavers are 6-1 this season and 32-2 over the past three seasons when leading at halftime.
