BABSON PARK, Mass.—Three different players homered but Babson College dropped both ends of Sunday's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader to the visiting Coast Guard Academy at Govoni Field.
The Bears defeated the Beavers 6-3 in the opener and held on for a 7-6 triumph in game two. Babson, which entered the day with an eight-game winning streak, slips to 22-10 overall and 7-6 in conference play. Coast Guard extended its winning streak to four games and is now 21-12 overall and 9-4 in the NEWMAC.

Brant Savage (Charlton, Mass.) went 2-for-4 with and RBI double and junior
Zander Teator (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) singled and knocked in a pair of runs for the Beavers, who were limited to just five hits in the loss. Graduate student
Tristen Spalter (Sergeantsville, N.J.) dropped to 3-4 on the year with the loss after giving up four runs on seven hits to go along with four strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work.
Junior Luke Percifeld (Pinellas, Park, Fla.) singled twice and drove in two runs, classmate Kael Godshalk (Bangor, Pa.) went 2-for-3 with an RBI and sophomore Nathan Stafford (Jupiter, Fla.) hit a three-run homer to pace the Bears. Junior RJ Priddy (Chico, Calif.) struck out two and allowed just one unearned run on hit over 3.0 innings of relief to improve to 2-2 with the win, while sophomore Jackson Dorsey (Newark, Del.) fanned two and recorded the final six outs for his third save.

Justin Guest (West Windsor, N.J.) got hit by a pitch, sophomore
Ryan Liss (Hollywood, Fla.) singled to left and both came home on a two-out base hit by Teator. Coast Guard answered back int the top of the third as Percifeld and sophomore Carson Cho (Haymarket, Va.) recorded back-to-back singles before Stafford cranked a three-run homer to right.
First-year John DiMarsico (Severna Park, Md.) and Priddy combined to record eight consecutive batters before Babson graduate student
Tanner Santos (Bethany, Conn.) reached on an error to start the sixth. Priddy retired the next two hitters, but Savage doubled off the wall in left bringing home Santos to make it 3-3.
Godshalk plated senior Wyatt Duthu (Madison, Ala.) with a two-out RBI single in the top of the seventh to put the Bears in front for good 4-3, and Percifeld's two-out base hit back up the middle brought home two more runs in the top of the ninth for the final margin.
Game 2: Coast Guard 7, Babson 6

Thomas Parisi (Somers, N.Y.), who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, junior
Chris Basile (Miami Beach, Fla.) and Liss all homered for the Beavers. Sophomore
Jason Finkelstein (Walpole, Mass.) suffered his first loss of the year and is now 3-1 after giving up three earned runs on seven hits over 5.0 innings.
Stafford went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, Madden hit a two-run homer and Cho was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored to lead the Bears. Junior Tyler Michalek (Haslet, Texas) tossed four shutout innings out of the bullpen to improve to 1-0 with the win, while sophomore Jack Gausselin (Long Beach, Ind.) earned his first save.
Coast Guard took a 2-0 lead on Madden's two-run blast to right center in the top of the first before the Beavers rallied to take their first lead in the bottom of the second. Basile launched a solo homer to right center to cut the deficit in half, Moses scored on a perfectly executed squeeze bunt by graduate student
Jack Julian (Manchester, Mass.) and Santos ripped a triple down the right field line to bring home Julian for a 3-2 advantage.
Cho led off the third with a base hit and advanced to third on a two-base throwing error before scoring on Stafford's single back through the box to put the Bears in front 4-3. The visitors got a sacrifice fly from Percifeld and then took advantage of a two-out error to extend their advantage to 6-3 in the sixth, and tacked on what became an important insurance run thanks to another two-out miscue by Babson in the top of the ninth for a four-run lead.
Parisi led off the bottom of the frame with a solo homer and Liss hammered a two-run shot to right center to bring the Beavers within 7-6 with two outs. Gausselin replaced sophomore Ryan Karman (Sayville, N.Y.) and got Savage out on a towering fly ball to the base of the wall in left to end the game.
Both teams are back in action on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. as Babson hosts Wheaton, while Coast Guard takes on Springfield.
GAME NOTES
• The Beavers are now 67-27 all-time against Coast Guard and four of the last five games between the teams over the last two seasons have been decided by two runs or fewer.
• Babson is now 5-5 on the year in games decided by one or two runs.
• Guest, who was plunked three times on Sunday, has now reached base safely in 20 consecutive games, while Liss extended on-base streak to 26 in a row.
• Teator singled in both games to run his hitting streak to nine games.
