No. 20/20 Men's Lacrosse to Host Clark in Regular Season Home Finale on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 25-3 all-time against Clark in a series that dates back to 1994.
• The Beavers have won four in a row in the series since 2021 but the Cougars captured three out of four from 2017-19, including a pair of one-goal games in 2019.
• The Green and White have taken the last two games by more than a dozen goals.

 LAST MEETING
Jared Rainville M'24 tallied five goals and two assists in a six-minute span in the second quarter and No. 11 USILA/No. 9 USA Lacrosse Babson kept Clark off the scoreboard for the final 56 minutes in a 21-2 victory on April 20, 2024, at Granger Field in Worcester.
• Rainville matched his season high with nine points on five goals and four assists and sophomore Luke Wang posted a season-high five points on three goals and two assists. Senior Colt Bordonaro scored three times, senior Max Mallett added a pair, and a dozen different Beavers scored goals for the Beavers. Senior Brendan Maher produced three caused turnovers and four ground balls, and classmate Bryan Hanley made a career-high 11 saves in goal in the victory.
• Graduate student Attilio Lavecchia and senior Matt Wells scored goals for the Cougars. Junior Patrick O'Rourke won nine face-offs, graduate student Jason Tautel caused a pair of turnovers, and Zachary Conant M'24 picked up a team-high four ground balls. Three Clark goalies combined for 21 saves in goal, including 11 by graduate student Casey McCullough.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 20/20 Babson (10-4, 4-1 NEWMAC) is coming off a 21-5 loss at No. 1/1 Tufts on Tuesday night in Medford.
• Graduate students Topher Bower and Tripp Clark, Wang, sophomore Camden Matthews and senior Matt Park scored goals for the Beavers, and sophomore Seamus Rooney and junior Bennett Smith collected assists. Junior Will Reading won 9-of-20 face-offs and scooped up three ground balls, and senior Alex Fascilla and first-year Andrew Almquist combined to make 20 saves in goal in the setback.
• Rooney (22-21-43) has at least one point in all 14 games this season, Matthews (28-7-35) has an 11-game point streak, and Smith (13-11-24) has produced points in 13 of his 14 outings. Sophomore Sam Sisk (14-9-23) has at least three points in five of his last eight games, graduate student Justin Greene (17-4-21) has at least two goals in five of his last eight, Bower (8-12-20) is second on the team in assists and sophomore Anthony Stillwell (17-2-19) is tied for third in goals.
• Clark (18 CTs, 43 GBs), Maher (14 CTs, 30 GBs) and senior Gavin Bailey (10 CTs, 16 GBs) anchor a defense that allows a league-leading 9.4 goals per game. Fascilla (10-4, 9.05 GAA, .581 sv. pct) ranks 36th in Division III in goals against average and 30th in save percentage.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
• Clark (8-5, 1-4 NEWMAC) has won its last two games including a 15-8 victory over Wheaton last Saturday in Norton, Mass.
• Graduate student Matthew Minkwitz erupted for seven goals and an assist in the win, while Wells (2g, 1a), senior Alex D'Entrone (1g, 2a) and graduate student Patrick Liddy (1g, 2a) tallied three points apiece for the Cougars. O'Rourke (7-of-9) and first-year Spencer Arzanipour (7-of-8) dominated the face-off X, O'Rourke picked up a team-high four ground balls, and McCullough finished with 10 saves in the victory.
• Minkwitz (44-26-70) leads the NEWMAC in goals and points, Wells (19-11-30) is second on the team in goals and Liddy (12-12-24) is second on the squad in assists. Graduate Colin Howard (14-7-21) is also a 20-point scorer. The Cougars have three strong face-off men in O'Rourke (81-130, .623), sophomore Huy Doan (77-118, .653) and Arzanipour (59-102, .578).
• Tautel (34 CTs, 33 GBs), graduate student Jacob Wharton (27 CTs, 44 GBs), and Lucas Cuda (25 CTs, 30 GBs) anchor the Clark defense. McCullough (11.02 GAA, .514 sv. pct) has started in the crease in all 13 games for the Cougars.

CHECKING THE NEWMAC STANDINGS
• Springfield (5-0) enters the weekend as the last remaining unbeaten team in NEWMAC play, while Babson (4-1) and Salve Regina (4-1) have just one loss each.
• MIT (3-2) and Coast Guard (2-3) are in line to earn the final two playoff spots.
• Each team will play seven conference games this spring. Key games remaining include Springfield at Salve Regina on Saturday and MIT at Salve and Babson at Coast Guard on April 26.

SUCCESS IN THE NEWMAC
• The Green and White have won 17 of 18 NEWMAC regular season games going back to 2023.
• Babson is 23-4 against conference foes since the start of the 2021 campaign and has won the last two and three of the last four conference tournament titles.

COMFORTS OF HOME
• Babson is 7-1 at MacDowell Field this spring and is 16-1 going back to the start of last season.
• The Beavers have outscored their six opponents 116-69 at home this spring.

CLIMBING THE CHARTS
• Bower has moved up to a tie for ninth place on Babson career scoring list with 151 points (65g, 86a) and third on the all-time assist list.
• Smith (46g, 701, 117pts) has moved up to sixth place on the program's career assists list.
• Maher is sixth all-time with 69 caused turnovers, and graduate student Sammy Kalishman is 12th on the career list with 166 ground balls.
• Fascilla (21-8) is tied for fifth on Babson's list for career victories and eighth on the all-time list with 278 saves.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Green and White are 8-0 this season and 23-1 over the past two seasons when winning at least 50 percent of the face-offs.
• Babson is 9-0 this season when scoring at least 14 goals in a game and 10-0 when reaching double digits in goals.
• The Beavers are 8-1 this season and 34-2 over the past three seasons when leading at halftime.
• The Green and White are 19-0 over the past three seasons when holding the opponents to eight goals or less.
