#11 Men's Tennis

No. 13 Men's Tennis Eases Past Wheaton, 7-0

Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass.—No. 13 Babson College dropped just one game in doubles and won all six singles matches in straight sets on the way to defeating visiting Wheaton College, 7-0, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's tennis action on Wednesday afternoon at the Babson Tennis Courts. 

Babson, which has won four consecutive matches, improves to 15-2 overall and 5-0 in conference play. Wheaton has dropped five of its last six matches to drop to 3-10 overall and 2-4 in the NEWMAC. 

Junior Martin Mejia (Cali, Colombia) and first-year Edward Wang (Burr Ridge, Ill.) were 6-0 winners at number three doubles, senior Ole Lepsoe (Oslo, Norway) and junior Alexander Weber (Baech, Switzerland) recorded an 8-0 victory at number two and the pairing of seniors Brady Anderson (Rochester, N.Y.) and Wesley Zhang (Staten Island, N.Y.) completed the sweep with a 6-1 triumph over the Lyons' duo of Pablo Munoz (Paris, France) and Jaime Galligo (Madrid, Spain). 

Lepsoe earned a hard-fought 6-3, 6-4 win over Galligo at number one singles, while the Green and White dropped no more than three games in any of the other five singles contests. Anderson rolled to a 6-0, 6-3 victory at number two, Zhang was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at number three and sophomore Mattias Harrell (Oslo, Norway) posted a 6-1, 6-1 result at number four. 

Mejia cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number five and Weber coasted to a 6-0, 6-0 win at number six. 

Babson is right back at it on Thursday as it hosts Salve Regina at 3:30 p.m., while Wheaton meets the same Seahawks team on Friday at 3 p.m. 

MATCH NOTES
•    The Beavers are 25-10 all-time against Wheaton and have won 14 straight matches between the teams. 
•    Wang recorded his 12th doubles victories of the season on Wednesday and his 30 combined wins this season matches the single-season program mark set by Jon Martin '05 back in 2003-04. 
•    Babson's 15 wins are the second most in single-season program history behind the 2022-23 team, which finished with 17 victories.
